He is a good player we have all seen that. Just not match fit. Premier league is very demanding. He will be better for his game time today. But he is quality, though not Lukaku class. Good player rather have him playing for you than against you. Rafael building good squad not just about first 11

It makes sense 'cos he was a free agent & no fee. Unless they're over 40yrs old or coming back from a drug ban no-one accepts a year contract. It's the market.

He's not young, a bit overweight and has barely played with his team mates.

We do (should?) not need him to play more than a handfull of full games with a few sub appearences, no up'n'coming striker is going to accept that, so oldies it is. In a perfect world (so not Everton then) he'd be used to allow our first choice strikers to miss nothing games and come off early in others.

As long as he makes an effort, fine. He was wading through treacle before half time. That will improve, allbeit slightly.

There wasn't a lot of other options out there.

That’s a good point, and we must have known we had absolutely no money to spend before we did it. I’m sure he would have been happy to stay given Carlo had gone.

it wasn't a bad performance from him. His hold up play was decent and his off the ball movement was decent. He's just majorly unfit. I'm sure Benitez will whip him into shape though.

Mobility and physique right now just doesn't look like a professional player, he's far off where he should be, but he's a back up and probably wasn't expecting to lead the line so early.
