The Final Cut by Pink Floyd, from the album of the same name.

You genuinely have to be ready to listen to this one, as it's so powerful - a man contemplating suicide.

Listened to on headphones magnifies the impact too, as the song is laden with hidden whispers that you can only hear through headphones - " do it, go on do it " being one of the whispers.

It's a masterpiece of writing, but leaves a terrible hollow feeling after listening to it.
This is my most played Floyd album,powerful from start to finish

this, could be any of about 5 from This Mortal Coil

however, this, personally, was the first song I played after the old girl died and makes me deliriously happy and bitterly sad in equal measures
