Ryan Ledson

I thought he did quite well...liked what I saw a lot. Really enjoyed the game as a whole...the only youngster I didn't rate much was McAleny...seemed to lack the confidence to make the final pass....on the other hand he got himself into a lot of good positions, so I'm probably being harsh on him.
thought he was trying to hard to impress, final ball was not good and he needs to pick a player out rather than go it alone, injury problems have held him back so maybe he thinks at 22 its now or never and its affecting his game, has looked a decent player in the few games i have seen him before this game.

If he is to go out on loan it has to be to a team that attempts to play football and not an alehouse team. We want him to keep his footballing side and nurture it along. Any alehouse team would set him back rather than progress him. He is at an age were he has to eat and drink football rather than the 'ave it' into the stands football.

The best education for young players is to be playing competitive football every week, they need competitive football to learn their trade. Ledson is 17, and we need to get him a team for the rest of the season.

It's pretty obvious from hearing Martinez talk after the game that Ledson's one of the players that he sees as ready to play in the first team. Imo he'd be a perfect back up for McCarthy with Besic being a back up for Barry

When you think that it was Ledsons debut and that he is only seventeen it was a marvellous performance. You forgot that he was a footballing baby and just accepted that he was a premiership footballer. I was also a little surprised at how physically well developed he is. He didn't look like a youngster playing in a mans game.

I thought that Dowell did look a bit like a youngster playing in a mans game. But, he is obviously a talented youngster and the game on Thursday night will show him where his performances need to be if he is to play first team football. I think he has to mature a little more before he is ready. In time he may prove to be the kind of playmaker that we need at present.

Browning is a good athlete and a no-nonsense defender. Physically he is ready and it is now about getting a level of first team football under his belt to give him the experience needed. I think a loan move to a good championship club and playing twenty plus matches would benefit him hugely.

McAleny,to me, was disappointing in certain facets of the game. He missed the opportunity to make passes that would have set up very dangerous situations. He was almost guilty of trying too hard. It looked as if he wanted to be the matchwinner. It is understandable as he is at an age where many players are established first team players.
I don't think he is ready for the first team at the moment and desperately needs to play every week. He badly needs to be sent out on loan, again, and hope for better luck this time.
If he were playing every week, he might lose some of that desperation to do well personally and he might benefit from it as a player.

I would not be nearly as critical of Robles as many others. I think with experience he will become a very good goalkeeper.

I thought Kone looked really well, but that Oviedo still needs to lose a little weight and is a bit off his best just yet.

Ledson grew into the game and showed for the ball at every opportunity. Clearly a very talented kid who needs an understanding and supportive network around him to maximise his potential. Everton is currently the perfect place for that....I can see the lad being in the 1st team squad every week next season.
Garbutt looked ready and capable and absolutely full of confidence -he could play in the first team immediately such was his composure.
Kone looked very strong and direct -there's definitely a beast in there who will score goals.
Most of the other youngsters looked a tad overwhelmed, and that isn't a criticism just an observation.
