Royston Drenthe

The case should be left to wither away now; the fact it isn't being allowed to is less to do with this individual and more to do with Moyes: his priorities, his style of management, and his judgement. That's what's generating the heat here. And I think this incident leaves Moyes coming up short in his decision making abilities (again). There's absolutely no argument to be made on the discipline front: those using it are flogging a dead horse and they know it. You cant use that reasoning when it was never applied in the first place with Drenthe - you cant applaud Moyes for axeing him for squad unity purposes when he'd left him a whole season to, apparently, operate like a wrecking ball on team unity...and you certainly can never use the related argument that Moyes was giving Drenthe some latitude hoping he'd come through as a decent character either - everyone knew in the game he was incapable of reform...so if Moyes thiught he could reform him that just underlines how off his decision making was (again).

Besides all that failure of logic, I tell you what gets the alarm bells ringing on this one for me...the fact that the issue is being pushed along with info that Drenthe was really just playing a game and waiting to play for Liverpool and he's now abusing our players. Now, whether those stories are true or false (and LCAB has been spot on with transfer/other club info in the past so it'd be a fool who didn't think there was some element of truth to it all) they really wouldn't be getting thrown into the mix AT ALL if the argument for non-inclusion of Drenthe on the SF bench was in any way, shape or form a strong one.

Guess what? Moyes makes some real howlers and will continue to do so. This was one of them. That's it really. Anyone who'd argue against the case that Moyes makes such howlers really has lost the plot im my estimation.

So is he going Libpul or not? I kind of wouldn't mind him going there tbh. We need a new Barmby to focus the hate on. I think with a little effort we could reduce him to tears on his return.

My last post was pretty much my final word on the subject LCAB. No one is getting convinced by any counter argument. Positions have been taken up and wont be moved from. So it's time to drop it for me.

<does *I'm outta here movement*>

Royston for us was very unpredictable on the pitch, which I liked. With a player like him, you take the rough with the smooth and try to smooth out the rough. But sadly according to reports he was very predictable off the pitch. He was given an opportunity at Everton to resurrect a promising but nose-diving career and he has wasted it.

If you have played football at any level you would have had a Drenthe type in your squad...guaranteed. If he ****s up (turns up pissed etc) the backbiting in the squad starts - footballers are a bitchy lot at any level. Moyes could not afford this to happen as the togetherness in our squad is one of our main assets. We also have a lot of potential first teamers in the youth ranks and if Moyes lets Drenthe get away with his antics, it is not a good example for them.

I was gutted when he wasn't in the SF squad, but do you really think Moyes would jeopardise the most important moment in his Everton career if he had an option? Come on whether you are Moyes haters or not, you can't possibly believe that!

Also, we have a couple of our reliable ITK's who have backed Moyes for his actions and obviously know more about the situation than we do. We are crying out for knowledge on transfers during the windows from these guys and yet doubt any of the info that they are giving on this situation....bewildering!

most people on here now how i feel about moyes ,but he was 100 per cent right to send the dutchman packing .one word little roy does not do is RESPECT. close the thread

I'm miffed on all counts. However you look at it, it certainly didn't help our chances in the semi. Whether Moyes was right or wrong I'm disappointed in Royston all the same - he really seemed to enjoy being at the club and made a lot of fans, then he goes and c*cks it up. Honestly, I just dunno..

...and you don't kick out a player the day before unarguably your biggest match of the season when you've had MULTIPLE chances to do so previously.

Make no sense at all. None.

EMPLOYMENT LAW.

if he keeps coming up with possible valid excuses then a lot of the times where he would be disciplined would have to be let go. There is a slacker in every workplace, and it is that slacker that will go to a tribunal and win on the basis of the kind of excuses that he was coming up with.

For it to get to where it did then he must've been disciplined previously, this aint Cricket and a case of when caught behind you walk.
Chances have to be given for the person to put things right, if he had been sent packing and then went to a tribunal, and of this I have no doubt as he appears to be exactly the type of character that would do that, then where would that leave us ? couple of mill out of pocket ? we cant really afford to make such contractual errors as it would wipe out any meagre transfer kitty in an instant.

Aye, it's incredibly hard to fire someone these days without going through proper procedures, and even then the employee still ends up not too bad off.

Right- we need to stop with the whole 'I dont like you' crap, who cares who you like and dont on an internet forum.

The whole closing statements as of -'Carry on, Whatever, OR FACT! Is tiresome and quite aggressive from a few people on here.

The whole point of this forum is to create debate if we all agreed it would be one boring place to discuss football. If someone disagrees with you it doesnt mean its BOLLOX, its their point of view.

Just chill the hell out will you....
