Stones, Del, Lukaku, Barkley, I pinned my hopes on those 4 leading us to glory whilst playing beautiful football. If we'd matched their ambition we could have held onto them, instead we spent stupid money on average players and will probably continue to do so in an attempt to replace what were genuinely world class young players that could have been here for years to come (with possibly the exception of the inconsistent Del).

It's ok guys, don't panic we've got Ashley Williams lined up to replace John Stones.

i find that whole viewpoint really weird tbh. you're not arsed about missing out on £35m, doesn't matter if that's your money or not, that could be the difference in us getting a top quality player in as a replacement that would elevate us, it's serious money! Especially with FFP in force.

Yes, i know. I did read it, when the roumors started. you might be right. I feel i don't want to get involved in the matter. I just hope he leave ASAP.

the sad part is that we wouldn't have missed him if klaassen turned into the player we thought we were buying. I think we bought him expecting to sell ross in the summer. Until the utter toad decided i couldn't be bothered and got us to milk his medical fees. I hope to god some sort of agreement is in place for him to be sold for a substantial sum now that we've paid to get him the treatment.

In my opinion, we shouldn't have been paying for that for him as soon as he decided to do a u-turn and cost us £35m. If we don't get a fee now i will be distraught at the way we paid him a year's worth of wages and medical bills, all to aid another club. If he could come back and get us CL and then go on a free that would be totally different, but right now, he can't do anything for our season.

Personally mate I never saw Klaassen as a Ross replacement. He's literally nothing like him, at all. In fact, the most similar player to Ross at Ajax was/is Ziyech. Klaassen isn't a playmaker. He's a box to box player who moves the ball on quickly and makes cutting runs to get into good attacking positions*

Well, he's currently a player who runs about on a training pitch.

we got offered £35m for a player in his last year of a contract he was never going to re-sign. Why on hell's earth would i blame the owner for that? That would have been a brilliant deal for us. We would never have got to that stage if he'd signed a new contract.

But the worst part of it all is that we don't know much about it because barkley has hidden for a year and not said a word about anything the coward. Like everyone else has said, at least stones and lukaku didn't lie and hide. They were open, honest and ambitious. Barkley has never said he won't sign a new contract because he wants to move to a better team, he's not said anything. What kind of evertonian does that to his own club?

I remember Everton winning the league in 1970.
Since then I have seen so many false dawns at our club and seen so many players come and go. I am more optimistic now about the future of Everton than any time in decades.
My biggest regret with Barkley is the loss of a good fee because he has allowed his contract to run down, I have seen far better players arrive and leave our club and yet the club is still here and will be long after Barkley has retired.

Barkley doesn't want to play for Everton and so he should leave. I don't particularly wish him well, but I certainly don't wish him ill.
When I think of Everton I think of Dean, Ball, Royle, Labone,West, Ratcliffe, Sharp, Reid, Watson, Ferguson and many others, the fact that Barkley is not one of those doesn't bother me.

Dave he has refused any new contract, he refused a move to a team (which if his motivation was winning things) he would have accepted, he has stayed silent on the entire issue throughout - which initially can be seen as a positive, but the longer the situation dragged on the situation changes and he should have said something, be it negative positive or whatever.

Now let us see if he ends up moving in January or on a free in the Summer, but if he goes to Chelsea on a free - he's an utter snake, and if he goes to Spurs, similarly he's showing his true colours as having had that move lined up for a long time.

Club had only several options, offer a new contract - they did, try sell him before his contract ran out - they tried, or let him walk on a free.

For any blue to choose that latter one, nah mate, utter cretin and he will go down with the likes of Barmby in my eyes as a total piece of crap who i hope gets snapped next time he plays against us

You dont know anything about what's gone on. I dont either.

What i do know for certain is that we had a player settled and playing well and then he was hounded by a manager and then thrown to the media wolves by an owner. 12 months of that and he'd had enough.

If Unsworth or some other manager had been installed post-Dutch tit then maybe there'd have been a will and a way back.

This is overwhelmingly a situation of the club's making.

How on earth can anyone following the shenanigans of this club for the last two decades not see that this Barkley saga is typical of the way it positions players to be the scapegoats?

It's unreal. It's like there's a collective amnesia about the way the club shafts fans and players and comes away each time with a clean pair of hands. The chimps in the local and national media help them out in that respect and many fans gobble their BS up and regurgitate it on forums like this.
