I was talking more in general terms rather than specifically about his showing today mate.

I would agree that in my opinion, the manager made some critical errors today.
Personally, I would have started Mirallas or at least brought him on at half time. To only give him the last nine minutes was nuts to me.
 

If Barkley was not a local guy, people would be happy to sell him. We have Davies coming through at this moment. I would sell Barkley this summer while we can get a big fee.

He has not really progressed. Look at other players in similar position that are young in the league - He would not get into Champions League team. Quite a way from the likes of Alli, Coutinho, De Bruyne. Also big problem that fans cannot even agree his best position.

Maybe new team would give him a boost, but at Everton, I think he has reached his ceiling.

Barkley is a very frustrated player at the moment. He's been neutered and his game week in week out is not about what we saw today. It's much more conservative...but the lad instinctively knows that conservative is not required in a game like that - discipline, yes.

He was 100 times worst last season under coco.

We have seen improvement, let's put today down to a bad day.

He's not the second coming of anything though, but as already said he is 23 and should still have his best years ahead of him.
 
He just seems so mental with how he plays. He was too amped up today, and didn't let the game come to him at all. Tried to force everything today.

Coutinho done nothing for months
And de bruyne hasn't had a great season for city

Some of the comments are rediculous. His form recently has been outstanding and he was beginning to look top class. He had a poor game but everyone did. The system didnt work def made mistakes, midfield lacked the players to help cover the def and everyone was pulled out of position trying to hard to cover each other.

Coutinho may have or not done anything for months but he has more goals than Barkley, similar assists and he shines on big occasion. Also important part of Brazil at this moment.

De Bruyne may be having a poor season by his standard, but he has same goals as Barkley and more assists. This is while Barkley is having what many are saying his best season.

I also forgot Eriksen.

Barkely can be a good player for us, but if people expect him to be our leader and to build the team around him, sadly won't happen.

and those said players are surrounded by players who cost a hell of a lot more money than Ross has got around him....makes a big difference you know.

Do you watch football or just google match stats mate? Barkley has been far better than Coutinho all season; De Bruyne and Eriksen have been excellent but they are playing for two of the top attacking teams in the country and are surrounded by top class players.

Countinho & Barkley goals & assists 11 each Ross however has created 61 chances v countinhos 47. They have the same pass completion & similar numbers of touches per 90 minutes.

One is a pariah in the media the other somehow wins Brazil player of the year over neymar despite turning up whenever he feels like it.

Barkley younger than all them by a couple of years and playing in a worse team. Barkley had a good few months. Wasn't great early on

Last season Barkley got 25 assists and goals combined in all comps. Playing for a team that finished 11th. Pretty sure that was more than Eriksen & coutinho. Not sure about de bruyne
