It's horrible watching the game with relatives and some friends as they are constantly on his back. Maybe that comes from expecting Rooney mkII, I don't know. What I do know is that we haven't produced a player like Ross Barkley in a long time. He's making that transition now from apprentice to veteran and he hasn't even hit peak yet. He can be anything he wants, but that depends on his mentality.
His performance on the pitch is far more mature, a lot of that has to do with Koeman pushing him up the field a bit further where he can get the ball, turn and run as opposed to playing in the centre, having too many touches and not being able to control the game. It was painful watching him managed by Martinez ... if he could play with 11 midfielders, he would have. Not understanding that forwards can influence the game as well was foolish on his part. And Ross imo is best placed as close as possible to the forward line.
Need to get him signed on a long term and put the media nonsense to bed.
