Ross Barkley

Lukaku did his best holding the ball up (granted it was always perfect) but who was within 10 yards of him? No one!

Ross gets the ball and what options does he have? One! And his is being marked 2 to 1.

We don't have the players to change the formation.
You're right mate that we don't have the players, but if that's Lukaku doing his best at holding the ball up, I'd hate to see his worst. Nothing stuck up top the entire second half - Ross didn't get a cup of tea out of him. Every ball he was coming onto was a 50/50, needed to be contested - no quality to work with at all.

Wonder if it all stems back to his hideous leg break... maybe psychologically he just hasn't got it in him... it'd put me off!!!! (I'm also clearly a [mildly bad language removed] house)

That was about 6 years ago. He's a footy player they get snapped all the time. Absolutely no excuses for not going in for 50/50s in a local derby. Imagine Gerrard pulling out of them

Get rid. Defended him up until last night. Absolute [Poor language removed] house of a player. Can't even be arsed going in for a 50/50 against those scum bags. Horrible coward, wouldn't be arsed if he never played for us again
Ross has never been one for 50/50s that I've seen - it's just the way he is. Given he grew up kicking a ball on the streets of Kirkdale, I'm guessing it's not because he's scared of the physical side of the game - it's probably because his career was nearly ended with a leg break when he was 17. NEA really, as that's McCarthy and Gueye's job to annihilate RS in the tackle, and it was just bad luck one of them had to go off.

Kirkdale?

Scary thing is mate, osman of 4-5 years ago also would.

We're a shell of what we were 4 years ago, we really are

Technically, some of the players we have now are "better" than the ones we had in Moyes last season, but deary me did those players in Moyes last season have so much more grit and determination

And the crazy thing is, we used to complain about our their attitudes, but they'd wipe the floor with this current lot in a psychological battle

Agree with still requiring patience with him and I hope he will become the player we want. However while we are waiting for him to come good, we need to find a player who can do the job now.
