Ross Barkley

Get rid. Defended him up until last night. Absolute [Poor language removed] house of a player. Can't even be arsed going in for a 50/50 against those scum bags. Horrible coward, wouldn't be arsed if he never played for us again

I guess partly in his defence, while playing at no.10, with the current tactics of bang it up to Lukaku (bypassing Barkley) the lad isn't getting much to work with. If we had a centre forward that could trap more than just wind he'd probably have a bit more of the ball coming to him facing the oppositions goal. Even when the ball is brought down and laid back to Barkley it's either him making a poor (or late) decision on what to do with it, or he knocks it forward to Lukaku who again seems to have lost all ability to hang on to the ball or find another blue shirt (and he's the first to throw his toys out the pram when a blue messes up a pass to him!).

dont write him off yet, my two examples would be adam lallana and aaron ramsey

I don't think there's a comparison tbh. Ross is very heavy-footed, Lallana and Ramsey always had a bit of skill and control. I don't enjoy seeing the lad being torn apart on here, but he's a confidence player who rarely has any confidence. Our front 3 needs an injection of technique fast because, as it stands, Valencia and Kone are the only forward players we have who can control a ball. Which is absolutely terrifying really

Wonder if it all stems back to his hideous leg break... maybe psychologically he just hasn't got it in him... it'd put me off!!!! (I'm also clearly a [mildly bad language removed] house)

yar...hopefully we can get some players in january and take him out of the team for a bit, just have him as an impact sub i guess

So we can now confidently say, he doesn't have the engine or brains to be a central midfielder and he is certainly not a play maker / number 10 either. Hell, Martinez even tried him out wide.

He doesn't even have a position you can accommodate him in.

I think we need to address this whole "Number 10" role for him.

He should be next to Gana, another striker upfront with Lukaku and in a 442 formation.

He will find more space, have more options to pass to plus we will have someone to link up with Lukaku.

The treatment him and Lukaku get comes down to simply, we don't have pace down the flanks to support a loan striker nor runners in the middle of the park who get beyond the striker.

Lukaku did his best holding the ball up (granted it was always perfect) but who was within 10 yards of him? No one!

Ross gets the ball and what options does he have? One! And his is being marked 2 to 1.

We don't have the players to change the formation.

Not got the brains to play there for me. Nor the legs, not the discipline needed.
