When you watch highlights of the match you barely hear Mirallas and never hear Barkley. it's the Rom and Bolasie show.

Bolasie looks to be the only player playing with the managers confidence.

For me, he takes far too many unnecessary touches of the ball. This slows our attacks down and allows defenders to get into position. Even when putting crosses in, he feigns it, takes a touch and then puts the cross in from exactly the same position as before the feint.

How many times this season has Bolasie knocked a decent centre and Barkley has failed to get in there supporting Rom?

Unless Rom scores then there is hardly anyone who can score and Barkley does not have that desire, that drive. Barkley is supposed to be an attacking no 10 and he can't do it. Compare and contrast with Cahill for example.

Problem is neither he or Rom can win a header in the box (or anywhere else for that matter) if they are under pressure.

I thought that Koeman would look to mould Barkley into a centre midfielder, but after the bids for Sigurdsson and Sissoko I'm half-expecting to see him gone in the summer.

Hes almost an anachronism. Ball at feet running there are few better at taking it to an opposition, but ask him to pick out a pass or move a ball early and there's no chance.

He's talented as they come... sheer natural ability... but he cannot think fast enough and doesn't work hard enough... and IMO doesn't look like he is improving... not good enough imo

There was a moment in the second half of last weekend's game where Coleman had the ball just inside his own half, fannied around for a bit waiting for someone to create an option, and Ross just stood still slightly out of range. I love Barks and I've watched him dominate at every level since he was about 15. In all those teams, for Everton or England, he's always wanted the ball and gone looking for it all the time. You might think he was able to do that because he was a level above everyone else in his younger years, but he's done it for the first team as well. We've all seen it; there have been quite a few games where the opposition have been pinned in their box for ages and our plan was just get it to Ross and let him do something. Now he doesn't really want the ball, which is a big concern. We need to sign Rooney and get him to be his personal coach.

I am beginning to think he is one of those players who needs to be in a good team to be at his best. Hopefully Koeman can improve the team and then Ross will improve in himself.

Club have just released a short video on their facebook page, remebering the fallen from mersyside during the first world war.The story centres on a young evertonian named james who was 14 when he lost his life. The picture of this lad sent a shiver down my spine , it's Ross Barkley in another life, straight up.
