Ross Barkley

It's funny reading redcafe. Them talking about the problems with Pogba sound eerily similar to ours with Barks.

At least we didn't spend 100m to have the problem.

I think one thing is for sure if we play Barkley as a 10 we need our wingers to hug the touchline to open up the space for him.

For me if he plays there Gerry has to play instead of Mirallas.

Big call if so. I hope the Goodson Crowd gets behind him.

Good call imo ....Barkley has the ball firmly in his court now. He has to improve as he is truelly the focus of many atm; this is for me a huge crossroad in his future, for me he can can change a game with a moment if brilliance but he cannot control a game

He will be up to show his worth tonite no doubt COYB

Koeman has said he has talked to Ross Barkley, it will depend on the tone of those talks on whether he starts today. I personally would give him the chance today to get himself going. These last few weeks could be the wake up call he needed, out of England squad and given the hook at halftime against Sunderland may make him focus. I hope it has that effect and he destroys Middlesbrough today.
If he starts today and doesn't produce then Koeman and Everton have shown they can adapt to chance during a game.
Barkley has captured something at Everton, he is like our child, we all want the best for him.
Stormed today, gets a goal in a 4-0 win.

I've seen him control games. Against QPR and against Boro when him and Gerry came on in the 2nd half just spring to mind as 2 of his more impressive mature performances.

I very rarely see him changing a game with a moment of brilliance if I'm honest. I actually think he needs players like Deulofeu or another like Bolasie to do that.

He said he had the conversation and all was ok so would assume Ross took what was said in the right way which is what I expected. Depends on how he does on the training ground that determines whether he starts and you have to trust RK to make that call. Hope he does start as it means he's had a good reaction. Probably also start Del today as I think they'll park the boat.

Bolassie, mirallas, deolefeu to start behind lukaku on merit and because that's the most likely team to win. Ross as an option off the bench to seize his chance when the opportunity comes.

For me ross needs to be moved from the number 10 and back in to a 3 man centre mid field where he will have space in front of him to run with the ball. He doesnt have the inteligence for the number 10 and runs out of space before he can think. Id drop him back and then gerry and bolasie right up along side rom ( but out wide) to pin the oppos full backs back and open up the space for ross to run in to.

Apart from the first 2/3rd of last season where he was playing #10 and scored 14 goals and assisted 11 which were pretty much the best stats in Europe for a player of his age.

In stats terms, even with his last rubbish 10 games, he was in the top 50 players in Europe last year according to Whoscored/Sqwaka.

Thanks for the stats quote saves me looking them up.
Doesnt change my opinion that i belive he would be better playing deeper in a 3 as he could get on the ball and take it forward. When he is in the 10 role he often has his back to goal and passes back or gets the ball on the egde of the box and can only go sideways.

So what im saying is he would be better in a role like lampard had at chelse ariving a bit later and havimg space to hit his long rage shots from the edge of the box when the defense has pullled in to the 6 yard line.

Bbc saying his place is under threat after a bad start to the season. Which goes to show how much they know.

One poor 45 minutes does not constitute a bad start to the season. Definitely should start today for me.
Totally agree mate

The media and some of our fan base love scapegoat, and Barkley is an easy option..

It would be interesting to try him in that role
