Ross Barkley

Don't see what the problem is here. Ross had a stinker in the 1st half against sunland(?) and deserved to be subbed.
Koeman has said he's worked with him about where he was going wrong. Ross has responded well in training. That's it, he's still our best player and under RK will improve. The public offerings are probably more to do with RK being questioned about RB being left out the Eng team.
Nothing to see, it's a team sport and he'll prob score and assist a couple against boro'.

KOEMAN HATES BARKLEY FFS DONT YA KNOW

That's a good point actually (the timing of it). If Koeman had done this when we were struggling you could say "gutsy to do that when things aren't going well on the pitch." However, it feels like he's using a bit of capital built up over the past month to lay down the law to a kid who hasn't got the seniority to hit back.

As said, in other posts: when Lukaku was stinking the place out where was the public bollocking?
At 22 years of age, he's no kid. He has got the ability to be a very good player as he has shown on numerous occasions, however if his performance is not helping the team then he deserves to get the hook, as do all of them. As for throwing him under a bus, Koeman was asked a question and he gave a perfectly good answer, blunt and straight to the point. Some of us live in the real world where a spade is a spade so man up dave and get over it

LOL.

I don't understand all these people making out that he's this crap player.

Whilst I am disappointed that he hasn't progressed as I expected over the last 2 years, he is, nevertheless, already a very good premier and International footballer. He already has 22 caps for gods sake, and up until Feb last year was generally regarded as one of the top attacking midfielders in the prem, and his stats supported that. Even if he doesn't get much better than he is now (by now I mean his form of 2/3 of last season) I reckon he will still get 50 England caps, and how many Everton players have done that in the last 40 years.?

Like everybody else, I'm hoping Koeman can improve him, but if he can't I'll happily settle for last seasons form. I'm sure Ronald will too.

I agree mate, apart from the intn'l caps bit. I'll whisper this quietly on here but, I support England as well sshh. Normally when our players get picked for Eng, it means that they will be moving to another team or, used as a scapegoat for poor displays (even if they didn't actually play).
RK will improve him.

The second half would 'have worked' just as well if Mirallas had come off.

It was a totally arbitrary decision by Koeman who could have taken any one of five off. Let's not make it a master stroke.
It was the right move because we won 3-0. You have no idea what the outcome would have been. Barkley deserved to be hooked and he was. Get off it.

Why do I get the feeling that, despite all your previous pro Koeman posts, you've been waiting all along for something like this to happen to jump on his back.

Sides and battle lines have long been established. It is what it is. No thread is safe. No topic untwist-able.

It's not about being right or wrong, it's about winning or losing an argument on the Internet. Plotters will win 94% of the time due to the nature of game. Most managers fail or leave on bad terms. It's the easy path.

It's sad really, they must have had their hearts broken at some point and now they can't open up to any hope or joy for the fear it may be cut from them again. :(

It's not easy cementing your flag to the mast. Most will just dip their toe either side of the ship. The sensible option.

There's plenty of fairweather Koemanites about atm, as there was in 13/14. It will be interesting to see who sticks around when the going gets tough. That's the mark of a true forum warrior.

The player is strong enough to work harder to do better pressing. You look to his qualities and he needs to be the key player between defenders and strikers - he is that position in the midfield, to create, but also defensively to be part of the team.

"In all the aspects he can improve - and he needs to improve. But he’s still a young player

Seems like he thinks Ross is playing in a key position for the team and should be performing to the level Koeman (and we) know he's capable of, that he can still improve in all aspects of his game (which can probably be said for most players) and that he's still young enough to make those improvements.

No problems with any of this for me, and I hope Barkley continues to attack his work on match day with the same diligence he clearly puts in on the training ground.

Also regarding davek's issue that this is all public - for all we know he's taken Barkley to one side once or several times in private and it still resulted in this latest abject performance, so now he's trying something else?

All things considered, I'm sitll a Ross fan (as I think most Evertonians are, especially going from the banner in pre-season), and can't wait to see him score worldies against the RS for years to come

It's not just about losing the ball, it's about winning the ball as well and this had been an improvement this season but against Sunderland, this was back to Martinez level. He needs to relax and stop losing the ball in the wrong areas. He can do this but on the pitch, he like a rabbit caught in head-lights sometimes. I'm a massive fan and I'm concerned for Barkley but Koeman will appreciate Barkley ability and will fine tune him, he might have to do this on .the training pitch
