Barkley is an attacking mid and Henderson plays Central Mouth Breather.

My biggest problem with Martinez is eventually he went with Lennon and Cleverly on the wings and the fans blamed Barkley and Lukaku for their loss of form. What did he expect was going to happen with those two on the wings. If people ever wonder why Ross might get a bit low on confidence then, just read this thread. Some muppets even saying we should 'sell' him?
If you have the ball more, pro rata means the chances are you'll give the ball away. It seems that the times he does are highlighted more than those he doesn't. Anyone thinking he shouldn't be in that Eng squad should just look at the midfield chosen and ask why he isn't in there.
Literally, give up sometimes with the lack of support for one of our own. I'm disappointed for the lad, he does seem to be working harder at the closing down part of his game, in combo with him still being the focal point for our attacks. Maybe, people should ask where the CM/playmaker is rather than question Ross' ability to do all of it?
the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world jordan henderson was a PL footballerMark Noble?
Im done.
There only snide friendlies anyway so glad he can stay at finch farm
World cup qualifiers mert.
Absolutely despise the man so you will find many more where you found them. Consistently 12th, sums up Barry to a tee. Painfully average but disguised in a way to dupe most people. 36 next year, I'm sure we'll still be wondering why we fall of a cliff most games after 70 mins. Hopefully Moshiri sees through the fraud and doesn't extend his contract.
Awful.
Could understand this cockiness on some other player threads but really he's 35 and we're 12th in the league. I don't really need to keep going. Wouldn't get into many sides above us.
I don't rate him at all mate. He sits far too deep for my liking to make up for his lack of pace and like a lot of the team is good on the ball but offers little off it. He also makes a huge amount of key errors (as shown in that article).
We have a problem pressing oppositions who have quick midfield a. They just run all over us and is one of the reasons we concede so many late goals. I think Barry was a good player but now has slowed down so is relying on sitting deep and using his wiles on the ball. Partnered with McCarthy who is extremely average and we have the poor midfield that has been one factor towards us being bottom half.
In comparison to teams in the top 6 our midfield just doesn't come close.
No midfielder in the league has made more mistakes that have led to goals than him.
He's symptomatic of a Martinez team. Looks good on the ball but completely hopeless st stopping it flying into his own net. I dread to think what the stat would be had Kabe had his shooting boots at WHL when Barry played him in numerous times. Not good enough.
The Moyes thing was a joke as you well know. Yeah I think Barry is poor. He might well be best of a diabolical bunch (I don't think he is) but he's still not good enough. No side in the top 6 would have him.
Surely you know I don't rate Barry. A relic of the Martinez era I'd gladly see swept away in the clear out. Teams wanting to progress in the modern prem cannot carry 35 year old defensive miss.
Barry must be first on the scrap heap surely?
No one has the knives out for him apart from Father Time. He's 35, he shouldn't be in the first 11 any more. No other team with aspirations will be carrying a player of this age in their first team midfield.
He should drop down to the lower end of the league or the championship or go to Scotland.
The treatment Leon Osman got in comparison to the gushing that follows Gareth Barry around is embarassing. Osman was far more skilful and did far more for Everton than anything Barry has ever done. We honestly deserve the bottom half if some of you think Barry is good enough to be starting for us. No problem as a utility cover player but he should be nowhere near the 11 especially when it looks as though Besic Cleverley and Gibson may all be out of the 11 before we even consider Davies and also assuming McCarthy goes.
He is so slow that he retreats almost to the centrebacks in games when he is terrified his lack of pace will be exposed. So average teams with a bit of pace in their midfield have huge gaps in the middle of the park to play in. He makes countless errors resulting in opposition chances that people wilfully ignore, the same people hysterically screaming at Barkley if he has a shot at goal. When he gets a stupid red, or multiple suspensions every season it's casually shrugged off whereas Fellaini or Mirallas got blasted for it. When he gets beaten in the air with ease at set pieces nothing is said, when it's Ross he's hung out to dry. McCarthy plays a sideways pass the crowd is booing, Barfy does the same they are clapping.
The problem is that such a large portion of fans have been fed the plucky little Everton line for so long that when a player that the media rated, that they said was too good for little old Everton, that came from the champions, now believe that he is infallible and cling to the idea of him as this player of supreme class. He was good, not great, ten years ago, he's certainly not of the level required for the top 4 now. Keep him around the squad for sentimental reasons if you have to but he shouldn't be hear the first team if we want to be a serious football club.
Not experienced enough apparently mate. Unlike Gareth Barry lol. My days.
Because it seems to be the prevalent mood. This is a transfer rumour thread about a very promising player who had just won the euros. In classic Everton style though it's full of people saying they might not want him because he's not as good as Barry. I'm merely railing against the myth Martine created that no o e else could possibly play midfield for Everton apart from Gareth Barry.
Loving Koeman seeing through the myth of Barry and McCarthy, long may it continue.
Nah mate, he looks OK in amongst the B team dross. Koeman has seen through Grandad Barry.
Lennon
I'd disagree with the assertion that he was poor tbh, wasn't his best game but worked hard and was still influential going forward. A world apart from some performances where he's gone awol for 90 minutes. Can't help but thinking yesterday's game swayed that Barkley decision, as he had a poor one in front of Allardyce.
Anyway who do you want to be coached by for a week if you're looking to genuinely improve? Sam Allardyce or Ronald Koeman?
Fair enough but he was being wildly criticised in the stadium mate. His second half was terrible.I'd disagree with the assertion that he was poor tbh, wasn't his best game but worked hard and was still influential going forward. A world apart from some performances where he's gone awol for 90 minutes.
