Gullit is bang on about Barkley.

He needs to do the basics week in week out and his talent will shine through.

All this Rooney talk is to light a fire under Barkley aswell imo

No mate, all these European Cup and multi-title winners are wrong and FA Cup winner Roberto Martinez is right

Koeman highlighting on MOTD that he run more and worked harder defensively today which he did.

His quality has never been in doubt but his lack of defensive work, willingness to track back or get involved in a tussle or 50/50 challenge is glaringly obvious and infuriated the life out of me personally. He's always needed to work on this but Martinez wasnt interested and now its left to Koeman to get that out of him - which he slowly appears to be doing.

As good as it is to see him ping 40 yard passes or score goals, its just as rewarding to see him battle for the ball or sprint 20 yards to track a player.

Quite honestly, I think THIS is the biggest issue most "have with him". It's when you see a lad jogging around and putting in below the minimum. I just got knee surgery last week and there are matches where I could have ran more than him. It's the idea of 'if you are a blue and you are PLAYING for Everton, you should be barely able to stand up at the end of the match'.

He was fantastic today, you noticed it in the first half early and he kept it on. If he keeps doing that, I can't see why anyone would moan about taking a chance.

He goal came from him getting stuck in and winning the ball back

he needs the harshness from Koeman to become the player we all want him to be, he put the effort in today and it paid off. He is one of us and a blue, he does get overly-criticised by some but he did need to majorly improve but he definitely did that today, so hope he keeps it up.

Totally this. Yesterday he was terrific - worked hard, his passing was quick and incisive, so there was a tempo to our attacks which WHU couldn't cope with in the end. And what's more, when he does this, the whole team ticks around him and plays well. Worked his socks off, rather than just waiting for the ball to come to him.

Need to see this week in, week out. We have a habit of playing well against WHU, so the true test will be if he can produce this sort of display consistently.
