Ross Barkley

I think Mirallas was even worse than Barkley in the first half; he was just playing incredibly lazy for some reason. Barkley was at least putting effort. Mirallas did a very nice job filling in for Ross though. Showed Ross how simple it could be if he stops overthinking every pass.

I don't think he has been good this season... And even last year ... I know his goals and assists has improved ... But overall I don't think he played well. I miss his dribbling runs and leaving players for dead.... I miss his thunderbolts and when he first broke through.. He would tackle everything and looked like he was going to be an all action box to box player... Just with amazing technique and dynamite in both boots...now he barley shoots, doesn't dribble, has a poor touch more often than not and never tackles ( he just closes a player and pretends he's trying to win the ball)

Really!?

I dont think I've seen Ross make a tackle in his life

The media overreaction today is pathetic. He had a bad 45 minutes. And yes we hope he will do better than his showing last night. But it was one game and he will be fine. Such pathetic journalism.

Watch him v Norwich away martinez first game. He would have won a 50 50 with an hgv that day.

He was amazing that game like, I remember his Yaya Toure run from one end of the pitch to the other, dont remember any heavy challenges tho but maybe my judgement/memory has been clouded by the fact he hasnt made a single tackle since.

Moyes said that before the injury Barkley was a tough tackler, but after the leg break he didnt want to do it

I worry for Ross. For the last three years I've thought at the beginning of the season this is going to be his breakthrough year....but still waiting. So many inconsistent performances, questions of his footballing brain, fragile confidence and most of of for me is giving possession away far to cheaply. However, his genius is also there to see and his passion for the club is unquestionable. I just really really hope this will be the year he can nutmeg all the question marks.

This time last year he was at the top of his game.

Since the turn of the year he's struggled, bar a few odd moments.

But since Koeman's come in you can see the improvement. Games like last night happen.

Think about it though mate.

When he came through, he was an unknown quantity. Now he's doubled upped on and man marked constantly.

It's like Alli - who I'm sure will struggle to have the same impact this year.

The best players find a way around it and Ross constantly does just that. Thing is we take it for granted because he makes it look so easy.

I love him but can't work out his best position or his "style". Is he a direct runner, a clever passer, a stylish goalscoring midfielder...or what ?

Said it before Tim but I haven't seen too many media outlets saying much.

The 'overreaction' has mostly been from our fans

Oh yeah i agree completely mate im a massive fan of Barkley, although he frustrates the hell out of me like.

Just dont think tackling has ever been one of his strong points is the point i was trying to make
