I understand he has a lot to live up to, but he's 21 and scoring goals in the prem at a pretty good clip. Ross has done nothing memorable all season and people make excuses for him. Doesn't add up. I get what you're saying, but that logic is flawed.
Of course the logic is flawed. The cost of a player in no way impacts his quality. But there are a lot of people that allow the price tag to influence their view of a player.
Both Ross and Rom deserve time. Rom is performing better than Ross this year. Both have loads of potential, neither are consistent, and Ross has been awful this season. That doesn't mean either of them are terrible or won't make it or whatever.
They're kids. Most kids aren't ready to take over a league at their age. But expectation, blah blah blah.
But plenty of folks care about the price tag, because a big tag comes with big expectation, "How many solid players could we have brought in for £28 million." Is very different than, "How many solid players could we have brought in for...oh, right, he's an academy product."
Academy products will always get more leeway.
