I hate to say it but the only game we've won in the league recently is the one Barkley was dropped for and yesterday while Gibson for Besic made a difference. Atsu for Barkley made a bigger difference. There was simply far more movement from Atsu than Barkley for players to pass to.

He tried to pass forward which is something most of our players cannot do. Maybe we should adopt a new style of gk to cb to cb to lb to cm to cb to lb to rb to cm again ? Ohh wait a minute............. Im all for supporting any player that tries to take us forward, mistakes will happen, fecking about with it at the back is what has cost us so many points this season.

Disagree with you massively here. Atsu was actually good when he came on, maybe a few of his passes didnt come off, but at least he was trying things, trying to be inventive, something our midfield refused to do yesterday before he and Gibson came on.

I'm hoping Barkley is simply not trying in the league because he doesn't want to injure himself for the Europa League. That's the only explanation I can think of when comparing his two performances. Rom looked half a sleep first against Leicester and Kev has looked in a coma ever since the transfer talk started. Barry has also looked a far better player in the Europa League.
As soon as the game against YBs started you could tell we where up for it. When has that happened in the league since the Arsenal game?
Maybe that's just what I hope is the problem.
