Barkley on a free on decent wages is a better squad filler than some of the dross we seen last season when Doucoure was suspended. Yes he wont run like Doucoure and Gana but he's better on the ball.

I am genuinely quite torn on it.

On the one hand, we need to be signing cheaper, younger players who have sell on

On the flip, if we get Barkley even to 80% of his ability, he is better than what we have. He scores and makes goals. Dyche will also probably like him as hes tall, physical and experienced. And we are really restricted currently. Theres not a lot of cash currently.

I hope we can keep Iwobi, bit if he goes for cash/profit the signing makes sense.

Frankly he's a big upgrade on Tom Davies for probably the same or less money than we were offering. Now I don't know if that says a lot about Barkley's ability but I have no doubt in my mind what it says about Davies'. Purely on paper it's a free addition that makes the squad better, despite be really not liking the lad and even thinking he was a bit crap when he was here.

Barkley and Dele even if they’re past it in this midfield would create more chances than anyone we have at the minute. Yes, they aren’t players who are gonna track back etc but look where that’s got us the last few seasons.

Feels like we’re getting linked to all sorts of players for actual money when we can instantly improve support for the attack for free and concentrate on a RW and forward. (10m fee though for dele if he turns good obvs)
