Ronald koeman . New barca manager.

Barca have made some odd choices over the last few years but handing the job of the biggest player overhaul and squad rebuild in their history to a coach who, at his very best, has nudged at mediocracy (and frequently much worse) is just mad. I know he's effectively caretaker until Xavi comes in but it's still a weird old choice.

I thought I'd look up how he did with the Netherlands, as I really haven't been paying attention, and his whole mangerial career is so strikingly underwhelming:

In the Eredivisie he's won a few trophies but has done nothing beyond standard expectations at any of those clubs apart from maybe a decent run with a young Feyenoord side. Outside of the Netherlands the best he's achieved is a decent couple of seasons with a Southampton side who'd been built by Pochettino and Les Reed. In reality, he probably would've been our manager for a fair while longer if he'd have been able to get Giroud - we were only a decent forward away from being the kind of bang average 7th place team that would have kept him in employment - but it was painfully evident that he had little interest in being on the training field, developing players and an effective system. Instead, he flooded the squad with overpriced and highly paid players in the final third/quarter of their careers in the hope of very short term and immediate gains, which is exactly where Barca currently find themselves (with better versions of those players, of course). Him finally getting his dream job is, I think, the most emphatic example of a manager still dining out on a good playing career.

It would be quite amusing if he flopped dramatically there and left them with a string of Bolasie and Anshley Williams like problems, but I expect he'll very much not rock the boat and just hope Messi will keep things respectable until the season is over.

What's worse of all is he only spent 1 minute phoning Luis to tell him to leave. Our 3rd top goalscorer in history deserves better... this can destabilisethe locker room if Koeman thinks he can treat everyone like [Poor language removed] without respect. The same thing happened at Valencia.

While not having any actual striker lined up to replace him all we have are number 10s like Messi, Suarez, Griezmann, Coutinho.

He has said he wants Griezmann to play in his natural position and insists on a 4231 but we only have number 10s if he succeeds in getting rid of Suarez.

I am worried we will enter the season playing 4231 with no striker and 3 CAMs Griezmann Messi Coutinho. Basically we will struggle to score and concede 4 per game as this formation leaves us exposed defensively.

I am having serious question makes about Koeman's tactics and decision making and he hasn't even plaued a single game yet.

If he is going to dump Suarez he needs to have an actual replacement lined up we cannot enter the season without a striker.

Sorry mate, I feel you're pain, but the arrogant arsehole really isn't what you lot need at the min.

We did tell you that the locker botherer was a clueless, arrogant turd of a man and if he's your caretaker, then you're schools gonna burn down.

Sounds like he won't last long, so the damage he will do may be minimal - were still trying to sort ourselves out after the mess he and Walsh created here.

Did he really only give Suarez a one min phonecall to bomb him out the club?!?

Wow - Never change Ronko, never change!

Found out at Benfica, chased out of Valencia, sacked by Everton. He's already been found out. Barcelona will now enter a period of civil war and he'll be spat out in less than 6 months, IMO.
He will be gone when the re-elections come about in March, the new guy (who should be) coming in has said he has spoken to everyone from Klopp to Xavi just that it won't be Koeman

If in the unlikely event Koeman turned this round he'd be a favouite for the job, surely? I know that these clubs are highly political internally, but I could see that even if a new broom came in.....not that Koemageddon will be a success like!

more chance of him starting 25 games as captain than him turning that club round
