What did they say?

Mainly questioning his treatment of Barkley, on the subject of which, and personly I dont think Barkley is as good as some Evertonians think, but hearing that interview for the first time, Koeman is coming across with too much my way or the highway attitude, which he needs to sort. Was one thing Sir Alex doing that but a manger who is still trying to make his way up the ladder, as great a player as he was he still has a long way to go in managment and dealing with the media.

He's been encouraged to act like that here by the owner and the fans. The owner shrugs his shoulders and let's him crack on with what he wants; the fans (thirsty again for a disciplinarian after Martinez) have allowed him that much latitude he even thought he could say out loud that Everton wasn't the place to be for good players. I think over the last few weeks he might have found out exactly how far that latitude stretches though, and he's stepped back into a line a little more to justify himself...and I bet he resents that - a lot.

"For our club to compete in the north west of England, which is the new Hollywood of football with Guardiola, Mourinho and Klopp, we needed a star to stand on the touchline so we got Koeman.
He [Koeman] is everything I wanted. Disciplined, experienced, a top coach. He has got the aura. He was one of top 50 all-time players. He is very direct and his sense of humour is Dutch!"

He underlined there what a clueless divvy he is about football. That was Kenwright-esque.

Only in his mind is/was Koeman a star manager. We basically set the bar low and got the best mediocre manager in the PL. That's all. Plenty here at the time of his appointment were underwhelmed/disappointed we had to settle for him. I thought he was a good choice...they were right, I was wrong.
