Not sure it is all his fault because the lack of a legit striker means the other teams don't respect the ability of this team to score so they can always commit more guys to offense without fear they will make them pay. If Rooney is your best scoring option at this point, you are severely lacking scoring talent.

I'm not even convinced we'd be better with 'the missing striker'. There's mitigating factors and there's things clearly unravelling at a rate of knots.
