I wouldn't say he was covering his own arse. He attacked others BECAUSE he is the manager. He sees a limited team that needs improving. New players are the only answer to improve the team. He is frustrated at the inability and weak mindedness of the team. The players shot themselves in the foot not Koeman. Our squad is not good enough and Koeman has his targets and wants the board to get them asap. He is pointing out what is needed nothing more nothing less.

If so then he will be under serious scrutiny because he will have had a January window to bring his players in but its still early doors in his job. If after 2 or 3 seasons we are still 10th or so then it will be goodbye to him I have no doubt but its still too early and he has only had a short summer window to work in so far.

Agree with you on this Banno. It's now a crucial three weeks for Koeman, Walsh and the board to make sure this transfer window isn't the calamitous farce that was last summer's window.

I'm not questioning that, But, If he fails to improve on Martinez league finishes over the past two seasons after bringing in 4-5 of his own players and backroom staff then surely questions need to be asked

Not sure how motivated the players will be to maintain 7th either - not like it's going to get us into Europe. Could easily see us tanking matches towards the end of the season

Koeman was to blame for playing 5 at the back and defensive midfielders at home in the cup.

He isn't to blame for this shambles of a squad, though.

They will, moshiri said hes prioritising the league and failure to make in roads will see questions asked. But that squad is pyar gash and needs overhauling massively.

Even koeman said they brought it on themselves and couldn't believe how deep they fell back. That stinks of "this how we've done it in the past" attitude and proves the mentality is shot

He's the right man and he needs time. But he seriously needs to earn his money. It's weird because martinez would never criticise the players when he should which was annoying now koeman just constantly does it which is also annoying. He needs to take some responsibility. He can't keep blaming the players every single week
