Romelu Lukaku

Yeah he needs better service. Martial, mata, pogba, Rashford, lundgaard, zlatan, Ashley young, Valencia just aren't good enough.

Aye, he's really being starved there.

Even when he was here, I found the "lack of service" argument rather strange, he scored loads of goals and, apart from the one against Chelsea, I can't remember any other chances he made for himself.

Surely if "goals scored" is the only metric we need to judge him by, then the amount of assists he got from our team is the only metric we need to judge the service he got here? What am I missing?

HaHa You having a laugh mate .......The Mancs are no different to anyone else when it comes to slating players !1

I meant Lukaku specifically. Not even on Lukaku's very best days here would he receive the kind of unanimous praise he's getting on there. All because he was open about his ambitions. I'm not saying they wouldn't be the same if they were finishing 7th and 11th every season and Lukaku was open about a desire to play CL football, but they don't have to be, because they're second and playing CL football, so Lukaku's satisfied. They have no need therefore to twist reality to suit a silly agenda.

Didn't watch it all but saw him at the end when Rashford didn't pass to him. Lukaku did the cowardly thing he did whilst at the stepping stone club, he pointed at an unrealistic spot he wanted the ball playing to rather than making a more intelligent or selfless run.

Then sulked when he didn't get the ball.

£100m we got for him....boggles the mind.

Having watched the game, I tend to agree with the thread posted previously, unanimously praising him for a great showing and that he deserves better service. Funnily enough, no one's picked out that nothing incident you have and are judging the performance as a whole. Thank you for further reinforcing my point.

Kane has equalled, whiled still having very strong chance of beating, Shearer's record of Premier League goals in a calendar year - not too shabby!

Whatever you want to say about him, he's proving that he can score goals consistently with a scoring rate of 53 goals in 49 games in 2017.

Lukaku still has a fair way to go before he puts himself in the top bracket of European strikers, which arguably Kane is now a member of.

Kane is miles ahead of him as a player.

I`d hate to think what he would go for, if sold.

If it was a straight choice between Lukaku or Kane in your team, you`d have to go for Kane all day.

( I like Lukaku by the way )

I picked out tha incident as the ones praising him didn't mention it for a reason.

So when you say he 'deserves' better service you don't acknowledge or, more likely, realise the 'poor' service is often down to his lack of a footballing brain.

The reason is it was completely insignificant though.

I didn't use the word 'poor' anywhere in regard to the service he gets. I simply said they can't challenge City with Lingard and Rashford in their team and that they need to invest there. His footballing brain is absolutely fine as evidenced by his performances in recent weeks and his ability to score 20-odd goals a season consistently. The reason I said he deserves better service is that despite his alleged 'lack of a footballing brain' he actually provided better service for his 'supporting' forwards that they did for him last night.

Spot on, those balls he put through for other players were sublime.

I was quite surprised tbh, as normally he`d just keep on going with the ball and try to score.

No wonder Jose wasn`t happy after the game.

He's scored 20 goals once. Just saying.

League goals.

Rooney has only scored over 20 league goals twice in his whole career whilst Kane already achieved that 3 times and looks likely to do so again this season, shearer did it 7 times, Henry did it 5 times on the bounce with Arsenal. Rom scores the goals there's no doubt about that, I don't think he'll be up there with the greats myself but also this is the first season he'll be starting for a club that would have been capable of winning the League so he's got plenty of time left to improve.

Yes, Kane and Shearer were/are on a different level to Lukaku.

Rooney's all round play is much better than big Rom's, nobody's disputing that are they?
