Player Valuation: £8m
Ah, a fine argument you make. The caps locks especially help drive your point forward. And as i said in the previous post, we have tons of older players.
So lets sell them now and replace them. Any player 26 and over i say. We can easily replace them.
Nash
Hibbert
Yobo
Lescott
Jagielka
Arteta
Saha
Jacobsen
Neville
Cahill
Pienaar
Howard
Yakubu
Osman
I mean, in five years time they will all be so old! GODD MOYES ISNT PLANNING AHEAD.
IN FIVE YEARS TIME WERE ******* DOOMED.
But you see, there are some inconsistencies in the point you make. We can't sell every player over 26, as we would have no players left. For some players it is very difficult to find replacements. Lescott and Jagielka for example, are both class center halves and 26 is still a very young age for their position, so selling them would be a poor move, it's very difficult to find good central defenders these days (just look at Arsenal). Yobo, we need for cover in case of Jagielka/Lescott injury. Hibbert, who would buy him and what money would he be worth? If someone offered something for him then I'd sell him ASAP and sign Jacobsen, though. Yakubu has been injured for a year so he's not going to be selling material at this point. Furthermore, none of these players would fetch the kind of money for which we can ensure the arrival of a sufficiently good replacement.
If city, however, were to bid 20m for Arteta, the money we would get would ensure our ability to afford a young, classy replacement for the player. Especially when we already have an identified, designated target. Replacing Arteta with a younger player would ensure that we have the ability to continue progressing without fearing that our little renaissance is over once Arteta is past it.
Obviously we'd only sell Arteta if he is interested in the move. Arteta has been rumored several times to be interested in a move to a club which could perhaps give him a better opportunity to break into the Spain squad. If he wants to stay then we wouldn't force his hand. Also, with Moutino we already have an identified replacement who could fill his boots. So shall we sell Cahill because we have the younger Fellaini?
I blame Bill for this.
Cahill on the other hand bleeds Everton through and through, there's no need to even discuss cashing in on him. No one can replace what he does.
