Rodwell Rumours?

I go along with Ghost. I have been a fan since the early 60s so have seen a lot of Everton. But this could do me if we went the way of selling off players to generate funds to just standstill in the league. Where would the club's ambition lay?

We have to retain these players and add more to really get into the top and champions league.

The underlying current is lack of funds and this will be a perennial problem.

Wonder what the kipper sources were.

If we can't match his ambitions through lack of resources or indeed ambition ourselves, he'll clearly go at some point in the future.

My guess is he will go after breaking into the England team, so perhaps in 2 seasons?

However disappointed I would be, I still could not give up Everton though!

Well I would still be a fan, meaning I could never support anyone else, but I would seriously look at other avenues of entertainment in my life. There are quite a few Evertonians who were once fervant but then just decided that it's not the most important thing in life.

Basically I need assurances from the club that they recognise the potential that can be yielded from retaining quality youth.

If you want to and if you look closely enough you can start to see a team blossoming. I'm not talking about Arteta or Yakubu, Yobo either. I'm talking about that talent that is coming through.

The likes of Bidwell, Baxter, Femi Onugeura, Duffy, Coleman, the lad from Leeds.

From what I have been told these lads are also on the same path as Rodwell and Rooney. But by selling them on we are doing the exact opposite to what Man U did at the start of the 90's. And for me, that is what needs to change at Everton.

Ok we retained the likes of Hibbert and Osman, Anichebe and perhaps Vaughan. But none of them were highlighted as future stars, so I would rather see them moved on and the better quality retained, rather than cashing in on their potential value.

Wayne Rooney was sold for almost 30m. Ronaldo has just been sold for 80m and Rooney is now the main man at Man U and could easily fetch that kind of fee.

We need to retain our academy players, as they are the future of Everton. We sell them, then we are selling the club's future.

If he was to do a Lescott though lad, and sulk because he couldn't get a move away, would you want him here?

As i say, don't think we have to worry just yet, i think he enjoys being an Everton player

I think we have everything to worry about, the money being thrown aroung by citeh, Wenger is a self proclaimed fan, his potential is greater than any Manure midfielder, if he carries on this season as he has started we'll have problems keeping hold of him next summer. I agree with Ghost and the comparison to Gerrard and the RS, DM needs to build the team around him and let him know that.

Sick to death of this already . Its boring . A player who is half decent has a good game and the next minute he is off to whom ever .

Rodwell is defo going nowhere for atleast the next 3 years so chill the fcuk out please .

Chin up, it may never happen

The guys pretty level headed, and's got his feet on the floor. He dumped his Girlfriend because he was afraid she might interfere with his football, he recently signed a 5 year contract, and has said he feels Everton is the best place for him to develop as a player.

So, when he's 21 and been a regular in the starting XI, and needs new challenges rather than developing, what does Everton do then?

Everytime this comes up say the same thing. We are a different club to the one that Rooney left. We can match Rodders ambition in the next few seasons. Playing regularly in Europe and reaching the business end of cups, we just need that trophy now. Goblet, league cup, don't care.

Unfortunatley we are in an era where contracts mean fcuk all and its all about money and success, i for one hope he's here for 3 years and more but don't bury yer head in the sand and hope the big boys dont come knockin!!

cant see him going anywhere soon lads - he is still very young and needs to learn his trade and progress slow like he is doing and going to man u,chelsea or real madrid wont happen i dont think especially the way football is about to go.

dont forget if any club does come sniffing they will be quoted big big money because young english kids will be in demand in the light of the new FA rule about home grown players and all that so if clubs come knocking they will get a nasty shock at the price they are quoted and if a club is prepared to pay the asking price which will be huge then thats another matter.

I personally think, as much as it kills me to say it but Moyes will be the next manager of United, and I would assume Rodwell will be a player that he would want to take there with him.
