Not at least playing in a final with this Belgium team would be a failure. You're right they aren't England, they're better.
I don't know how the draw will pan out but their deficiencies in defence will catch up with them.

They are better than England but not France or Italy. I wouldn't bet on them if they played the Germans either.

The defense isn't that bad if it doesn't have Martinez organizing it

He bought ex wigan players to help us play to feet...that went well Dave.
He had a good season with us,without doubt, one season.
On the back of a well drilled Moyes defence.
Once that was forgotten it was tatties....
Top 10 FIFA ranked coach...too good for Evertonians used to having Alardyce and Walter Smith in the dugout.

He's done well integrating that talent to play together.

I have said numerous times, he is a decent International manager. He has a fantastic bunch of players, who have dug him out at times when his tactical idea has not worked. Japan last WC, and Denmark (?) the other night for example. And thats fine. Every manager on the planet has needed to make changes cos sommet aint working.

But his major limitations are exposed without elite players to cover for him.

Did he need elite players to see off Man City at Wembley?

He had the Dog & Duck beating a team managed by a 'superstar' manager with half a billion worth of talent at his disposal.

He can work with all levels of player: proved that at Swansea and Wigan with limited quality; at Everton with decent quality; now at Belgium with top quality.

I'm not sure why some Evertonians feel it's necessary to drag this manager down and call him rubbish and average when his record suggests otherwise.

Of course, if he was chased out of Everton then there's a vested interest in claiming that to have been vindicated as an act.

Thats the point mate. Every now and again, it clicked. But it clicked despite the flaws in his management. I dont hate him, I was sad he couldnt adapt to full time, day to day elite(ish) management, at club level.

Thats why the Belgium job is perfect for him. Magic players that he can pick to play the footie he wants to play. But you and I could do that.

Man City pretty much threw that match after Mancini got sacked before the game!

The way they played that day was bizarre. Reminded me of when Brazil played an unfit Ronaldo against France in the World Cup.
