Roberto Martinez discussion

When you lose a hero - parent, sibling, friend, colleague - usually all you can do is mourn.

When you are a paid member of Everton FC
and you lose a hero on the day you get to play one of our biggest rivals I think you get out there and play out of your skin.

The last thing HK would have wanted on the day he died would be a pathetic listless excuse for an Everton performance against, of all possible opponents, the mancs.

I posted elsewhere earlier that this has been one if the worst days for me as a Blue in 46 years. It feels as bad to me as the 0-5 derby in 82.
couldn't agree more, I was gutted when I woke up to the news, but was delighted I had a game to play myself, perfect on a day like today, imagine having that game at goodison against man utd, then a gutless team selection and a real poor display, and I'm not buying the excuses

Just got the stats mate. In his first 16 home games he got 37 from a possible 48 so in total he is on 73 from a possible 129 at home in the league I'll leave you to judge that. They are the stats.
But they're incomplete stats mate so I'll wait for you to provide the rest of that stats so we can appreciate the wider picture.

IMO, Mirallas was resigned purely to get the full value for him when he is sold...soon probably.

We've got Lennon and Deulofeu (McGeady is not a contender). That's who are wingers are chosen from. Not a lot of players in reality.

Exactly how is Mirallas going to get a bid more than we had off West Ham for him now Dave, he basically isn't playing - lost his International status as well - if anything teams will now look and go 'hang on he isn't featuring he used to be a starter - cue low ball bids)

People cope in different ways mate. Your kick around isn't really comparable by the way.

Disagree Dave, we have had two complete performances out of 11 games (Saints and Chelsea), 5 that we have played very badly in and then played well second half of the game and 4 that can be best described as meh performances (Spurs, the rs, Swansea and City)
I think that's harsh.

General view of our season before today was about 7/10 I reckon. One defeat shouldn't have comeback performances like WBA classified as 'meh'.

And the cup matches have been fighting affairs.

Let's not go overboard about a loss to a team assembled for about £300M.

Yes. I do. And that'd be about right.

Are there some people harbouring illusions about top 4 places?

Pffft!
No not me I think the top 4?is sealed even more so after today as prior to KO. I thought UTD were the weakest of my expected top 4, they may still be, but they are mile and miles ahead of LFC & THFC.

you didn't seeing me spray it about like a young kendall, with far nicer hair. I genuinely don't buy it as an excuse though

I'm not having that! lol

I'm not using it as the reason we lost today, but the wave of emotion (or lack of) around Goodison was obvious even from NZ. Flat, desperate day.
