Roberto Martinez discussion

If you took over a company and the manager of that company was doing [Poor language removed] at the main aim of his job then you'd replace him mate, give it time for Moshiri to evaluate him fully and wave bye bye to your Messiah
But the feller isn't doing *expletive* is he? You think along with others that he is, but anyone coming in sees not a man who cant do his job but a man whose tenure here has seen a vast improvement in squad and football quality brought about through his purchasing and coaching, and a man who has the club PL points record (by some distance) in his arse pocket, and has his teams hammering on the door to Wembley this season. They see home form as an issue and would want that sorted out.

They WOULD NOT walk in and say "nah, I've seen those positives and I feel like sacking him".

Wake up mate. You're a clever lad whose been picked up and washed away in a tide of hysteria...a hysteria that wont even penetrate the organisation itself.

But that's just it, he does have power. He's the largest shareholder of a group of people who still are the majority share owners technically speaking. He's also a chairman of a board and, like it or not, has a lot of soft power amongst the support base and a legacy he'd want to protect as a man who never flinches when there's tumult around a manager.

This isn't a Carter-type honourary presidency with a phone in a broom cupboard to keep their ego boosted.

You cant just dismiss it so easily.

The club hs 50.5% of shares not owned by Moshiri mate, to try to suggest that Kenwright is still the majority shareholder by being the largest of those is absurd, he has absolutely no chance on earth of ever garnering the support of all the sharesholders besides Moshiri - absolutely zero chance, one whom owns 8.5% for example hates the man, Kenwright can do absolutely zilch without Moshiri's permission, Moshiri on the other hand can quite easily do things without kenwrights - who does that sound like is really in charge.

Nope it's more like a rather ill man - by all accounts - being allowed the chance to finish the season as the Chairman of a club he has spent his life supporting. Whilst allowing the new owner to get the lay of the land and evaluate the people at the club away from the glare and questions of the media, make no mistake though any shots called will be called by the person who owns the club now not by the blke who sold most of his shares

The only thing that RM did wrong in that game was the sub. Ultimately it looks like a huge error and it's cost us big time with that win and I think swayed a lot more people into thinking he really can't learn
I think it's important to make the distinction that it wasn't just the sub that was the problem, it was the tactical set up that went with it. It wasn't a case of simply bringing on/taking off the wrong player, it was a tactical misjudgement which he failed to rectify even once they'd pulled one back.

I agree though that in the previous 75 minutes I had no arguments with his selections, subs or tactics.

Aye, Moyes farmed him out, Warnock sent him back. Bizarre.

Martinez gave him a go, worked out well.

I feel like an odd one out here - I don't hate Martinez with a vengeance but I don't completely love him at the moment either.

Who knew you could have a moderate opinion on the manager these days eh? Seems people want to either tuck him into bed or kill him with fire.

I'm not saying you have to settle for less for Everton, just try to take a moderate view - not liking the manager 100% doesn't mean that you have to actively campaign for his sacking or harangue those who like him. Likewise Martinez fans - you don't have to aggrevate those who dislike him either.

Balance is best and some could do with it when posting here now and again. Try it folks, you might like it.

People can be terribly dramatic but nothing wrong with being very emotional, I guess it's how we deal with it that is the problem

Three things:

1/ BK has surprised a lot of people by his longevity and I wouldn't be surprised either way if he left this season or hung around a bit longer than that.

2/ It's not a matter of organising 50.5% opposition to him, it's the fact he isn't even technically the king maker at Everton. That sort of arbitrary hiring and firing doesn't come with the territory of a man in his still delicate position at the club. Bill still exerts huge influence here and only a fool would contradict that.

3/ You haven't (beyond some outburst on the manager) given a scenario as to why on earth this new director would want to see the back of Martinez. Theres lots of reasons he'd want to retain him I've argued, but beyond the fact we have chronic home form I dont see anything of substance as to why a middle ranking and moderately backed club needs to sack a manager of this calibre.

Why do people defend Martinez go back to moyes like he was God awful.

He wasn't good enough to quite get us past that glass ceiling but he is / was better for us than Martinez. Easily as well though.

But they both aren't good enough to get us to where we want to be.
