When you surrender possession to a good footballing side, you rarely come out of it with a positive result, as Moyes record against most of the top PL sides proves. Our problem all season has been individual mistakes leading to conceding poor goals. Can you attribute that to the manager? Not sure myself like.
I think tactically at times we've looked a tad one dimensional, I'd like to see more of a 'plan b' when we're being nulified and he needs to stop putting square pegs in round holes with his team selections, but overall I still think he's doing a great job.
It's a confidence thing.
Take four games where we have lost leads this season.
Leicester, Arsenal, Palace and Spurs.
Take the United game when we were on the front foot and looking the likeliest winners at 1-1.
The tactics were OK and the movement was fluid and incisive, everything was going well.
Then from out the blue one of our players makes a basic error and the opposition score.
There has been no way back......the passing went to pieces.....the tempo slowed....it became safety first football.
It was almost as if the players lost confidence in each other and in their own individual selves.
These unforced errors have a nasty, corrosive effect.
