Roberto Martinez discussion

If we did it means either dropping barkley and Naismith both to the bench or again martinez has to shove one or both out on the wings and again the sides made unbalanced.

He's making things too complicated for himself. He Could easily play lukaku and Barkley in the league then eto'o and Naismith in the EL or lukaku and eto'o etc. But he can't seem to realise it's a squad game imagine if we got a city style takeover and had lukaku, remy, dzeko and bony as our strike force what would he do play all 4 and have no midfield?

He's got to keep a balanced side I feel he's literally "rewarding" players who are simply doing their job ie scoring by forcing them in the team the next week. It's eto'o job to score goals but Lukaku should still be the main man same way Naismith has done a good job whilst ross is out but that's it the main man is back same as oviedo with baines etc.

Yeah he's 5hite that Martinez and we need to get you in instead, it's best all round.

He had a winning formula that got him 5th last season and top 4 is much easier to achieve without a suarez inspired liverpool. Yet the squad depth has turned him into a kid in a candy shop desperately trying to fit strikers and CAM into the team and making the side unbalanced.

Last season we really only had rom up top and it worked for us as he played him and ross and kept a settled side. This season he's chopping and changing every week.

Soon as I seen his "samuel is a gift from the footballing gods" i knew lukaku would be dropped today and the fact he shoe horned barkley and Naismith into the side making it unbalanced even more is laughable.

Have you missed the fact that Barkley is only been available for 3 league games so far and Lukaku has been carrying and injury as well as suffering from having no preseason whatsoever, or even that Eto'o has only played a handful of games from the start.

He's managing the hand dealt to him, he's not playing at this on the Internet.

Haha deary me people were laughing when Chelsea were firing blanks with eto'o and torres last season whilst they loaned us rom.

You mean the same rom who has scored about 4 goals in his last 6? The games we have played eto'o up top without lukaku this season:

Swansea
Lille
Krasnador

Want to tell me how many of those matches we won? 0

Lukaku offers more up top and I'm sorry barkley was our star man against villa he offers more in the CAM role than Naismith does hence why Naismith was often played in front of rom whilst ross was out it was Naismith scoring not creating.
You dont get It do you ,Etoo Naismith & Lukaku have scored 4 each. One of them is carrying an injury thats effecting his form.
So you think its best to drop 2 inform strikers just for the sake of it.....Nonsense fella.
.

Spot on there DD.

Aye and as soon as barkley was fit he should have stayed in the CAM position and nowhere else, the fact he's been dropped in the Burnley game and moved out onto the left today to accomodate a player who is nothing more than a squad player that has had a good few games is a joke. Ross will be courted by the big guns soon for big money, naismith won't theirs a reason for that. Naismith can't dominate midfield with the likes of toure, Fernandinho, Ramsey, ozil etc. Like barkley did last season.

Eto'o played ahead of rom as he scored 2 against Burnley and played well, but again it's short sighted considering he played alongside rom that game and the 2 previous games he had played up top on his own he struggled and we never won either (likewise we haven't won today the 3rd game now)

Or possibly rested as he's been out all season.

The others I agree with but seriously?

BARKLEY was on the bench for the Burnley game because after being out for so long with a nasty injury he couldn't be risked to play 3 games in 8 days. He's also played well previously in a wider left hand role cutting in, so it's not as if it's alien to him.

I'm not sure why you're expecting of Naismith to dominate midfield players when clearly he does his best work in and around the 18 yard box, and he's proved very good at that in the past.

Eto'o actually didn't start today ahead of Lukaku soley because he scored last week, you're obviously the only Evertonian on GOT who's missed the fact he's carry an injury and he aggravated it last week against Burnley and needed to take it easy with our game in the europa league coming up.

Resting barkley at Burnley so he could have played against lille in a game we set out to get a point regardless was pointless. Your love in off Naismith is blinding your rationality when your arguing he should be anywhere near the side ahead of lukaku and/barkley.

Also lukaku played today if he was that hurt he wouldn't have been risked today martinez doesn't put people on the bench if their not atleast fit enough to play.

What's this "love in off Naismith" you're talking about? Where's this come from?

You was even arguing before mate that you wouldn't mind seeing lukaku played out wide to accomodate Naismith as "Henry could do it" in your words.

He's done well mate this season but he's not a first team player lukaku and Barkley are, and the fact martinez can't keep a settled side and realise that is why we can't go more than 1 or 2 wins without then slipping up as we have no consistently. Just compare us to last season mate things weren't too bad with lukaku and Barkley together we saw that in the villa game, but martinez today and in the Burnley and lille games has broken the partnership up.

It's like Borini scoring a few then Brenda keeping sturridge on the bench/playing him out of position it would be madness

No I wasn't arguing that, I pointed out its worked for us in the past and the refrence to Henry clearly went over your head.

One of the reasons we've not been able to pick a team two weeks on the run is due to our injury problems we've had this season, that's not Martinez fault, he can't be blamed for injuries that occur on the pitch or in training. But really during our run of winning games last year we never picked the same team twice so that's not really an excuse. We've had an indiffernet start to the season, but there's many factors that have gone into that and it not simply down to Martinez choosing Naismith over Barkley.

“He has been putting himself up for selection when we knew he wasn’t 100 per cent when he had the toe injury coming back from the World Cup. We need to make sure we give him the right training programme and allow him a bit of space and a bit of time.”
