relatively nothing compared with tv revenue now. Placing meant a big deal a few years ago: now that can be made up with live match tv appearances - and the massive injection of of tv revenue from domestic and foreign contracts dwarfs it all.

It's just a status issue really. If you're fixated on the 'best of the rest' pat on the head many seemed pleased with in the past, then knock yourself out with it. As long as we dont slip out of the top half of the table I'm pretty much unconcerned with the order of the finish if it isn't top four.

It's not about the '5th placed trophy' or '8th placed trophy' it's about Everton winning. That's the top and bottom of it.....when we win it feels good, when we lose it pisses fans off....when we lose games we think we should win it creates fumes by fans who are pissed off.

So the simple math of it is the higher we finish will be direct result of us winning more games.....which equals happy Evertonians.

You say it yourself 'beat Spurs and the bedwetters go away' well that's right, because the fans that want us to win first and foremost will be happy...

Why did you stop at 11th BTW? Would 12th and below represent something else?

Just remember you're not speaking for Every Evertonian when you pose the question 'who cares'? Because for one, I do.

I'd rather Everton play good football and draw than see a scrappy odd goal win playing poorly. Football is an art form and spectacle when all is said and done.

...and see us hobble along in the EL and PL again like last season? No thanks. If we qualify for Europe it has to be for something worthwhile. The CL spots or nothing. We're best focussing on the two domestic cups and playing open attacking football in the PL...which is basically this season in a nutshell.

Entry into the Europa League through a trophy would give a boost to the club, players and fans. We have been starved of silverware for far to long.

Yeah status as a PL club. That's what the point is. I'm pleased as Everton is viewed a a top 6 PL club not as a midtable club beacuse you can't deny it is moving backward.

Couldn't agree more. The best status issue for us at the moment is playing barnstorming football and all out to win a trophy. Our league position will look after it's self.

The EL is a marathon heaped upon a domestic marathon. If we had a winter break to recharge batteries, then maybe it'd be worth it. The last two English teams outside Chelsea (who could handle it) to get to the final were Fulham and Boro...and their domestic seasons went down the toilet.

The two domestic cups are a different proposition all together.

That's not what I expect. Things haven't changed for me: 60+ points (which historically on average gets 7th spot). It's just that the 7th place trophy never impressed me under Moyes so I must be consistent now.
