Not wishing to be controversial but, and I am now firmly in the Martinez camp. I have oft heard it debated as to the reason for the unpopularity of the English amongst other races. My take is your ability to take a small/average thing and blow it up out of all proportion. England beat someone, say Switerland, and all of a sudden you are going to win the World Cup. When you don't win the World Cup you turn on the team or manager with vitriol. You tend to be black or white. I have no doubt in the weeks leading up to the Euros you will have convinced yourselves you are nailed on certs and when you don't win Woy will be pilloried.
Now for Martinez, he is doing well. Good squad, great football heading in the right direction. But he hasn't won anything. What he has done is earned the right to some time a space to get on with the job. So he won't be a failure if Everton don't win the league or even finish in the top four. If he wins a cup that is success, if he doesn't but has a couple of good runs that is progress.
Let us not dam him with unrealistic expectations. Give him time and space to improve gradually.
