If he truly 'got' Everton, then he'd have been more honest in his assessments post match, and not tried to treat the very well educated football audience that he was addressing like idiots.

He'd have 'got' that we don't want style over results, the former is the icing on the cake, the cake is winning games

He'd have 'got' that Evertonians want to see their team play with passion and pride, and not jog about giving the opposition time and space.

I'm glad he's gone and I think the idea that he truly 'got' Everton is a complete misnomer.

All your points are completely valid and the reason everyone (including myself) are so fed up with him. I've said very similar stuff, he's treated us as fools.

But I really think off the pitch he did. The way he came in and gave us hope we could challenge, the way he integrated legends as part of the club, his speech at the Hilsborough memorial etc.

Not good enough for the management job but I don't think you can question his commitment.
