Rising damp (ffs)

Hate this.

I remember having to take a load of plaster down off perfectly decent walls so some fella could come in and put in a crappy "damp proof" membrane and re plaster. The mortgage lender retained some of the funds until it got done. The bricks underneath were bone dry and it ended up costing much more even after getting the retained money back. I had some more knowledgable mates come look at it and they were in agreement that the house was damp free.

Tossers!!!

I am going to share a little secret with you guys that not many people know.
I had a twin brother that was a porn star
before he passed away .
So whereas everyone knew me as Elvis the pelvis he got to be known as Enis
the Pen??

I went on a DIY / Builders forum, described it and posted pics.

Within minutes someone had seen all the condensation and asked the right questions to diagnose it :

Age / type of house.
Last time damp course was done.
Whether I dried clothes in the house.
Type of floor etc etc.

I never opened the windows during the Winter / when it was cold and the house was storing the damp.

I`ve never known anyone who sold a house (other than a relatively new one ), where they didn`t find some type of damp.

The surveyors do it, as it looks like they`ve done something and it justifies their fee to the client.
Spent $35 on a damp meter, got $5000 knocked off the price.
Edit; spent $200 to fix the leak
