If Jenrick has indeed gone reckon it will be him who will trigger the leadership challenge. What will happen first leadership challenge or election?
I agree but that's not saying this Sunak Government is any better, maybe fractionally. Sunak won't call an election as he hasn't the authority, he's just a puppet, a means to an end to remove the knobheads before him.

….its like a stalemate.
Braverman/Jenrick have drawn a breakaway for the Radical Right that could defeat his flagship Rwanda Bill In the Commons. Something similar brought May down.
Sky reporting that Jenrick has formally resigned.
Tories are desperate to find something as motivating and unifying as Brexit was - Get Brexit Done.

Cameron, May, Boris all managed to keep the party from imploding. Truss wasn't there long enough to do much of anything other than shoot herself in both feet some feat as it happens. Sunak doesn't appear to have the first clue about politics or party management. The Truss and Johnson administrations were worse.
Sunak cannot entertain this "star chamber" crap, as was pointed out in that tweet May resigned because she entertained it - he has to stick with the bill as negotiated and if the cretins of the ERG, "common sense" and the rest block it call for an immediate General Election.

…only if Sunak is replaced.
Wouldn’t surprise me if they rolled the dice at this point. Polls have them getting trounced, nothing to lose from putting another PM in to see if it bolsters the base. Tories know how to stay in power.
