RIP Scottish Football

I think when you kick the most successful club in the country, down to the lower leagues. Then you can have no complaints, when you end up with the national side that you deserve. The glory days of being the side, to board the earliest flight back home from the world cup, must seem like a lifetime ago now. They made a song about that didn't they?Don't come home too soon.lol

So how many Rangers players were actually in the Scotland squad at the time the the club were busted?

How many Newco Rangers players are in the squad now? :coffee:

Hmm they might do better with some Rangers/Newco players in the side. They could hardly do any worse. What do you think? @centralTon

We we're crap when we had Rangers players in the side before and we're still crap with none in now, it really doesn't make any difference.

This current standard we have goes way back to the late 80s early 90s to the beginning of Scottish Football being then dominated by one team to the rivals then competing to then overtaking and now being back to a one team league again. The early to mid 80s we had 4-5 teams all competing at similar levels, winning European trophies, getting to finals and semi finals, each season a number of teams going into the final weeks still in with a shout of the league before Murray came along with his millions and Rangers pretty much signed half the England team with it. Fast forward a few years and they are winning titles easily and the National Team slowly starts drop off over time.

The Norn used to be the laughing stock until they smartened up to the point the made the last Euros, Wales were before that until a certain chimp boy came along and they not only made a major tournament but were the last of the 3 home nations there standing, the Jocks have been standing still for over 20 years and will continue to do so until their league becomes more competitive than Hearts/Hibs/Aberdeen topping early season then bowing down so Celtic can cruise control their way to the title and Rangers toddle along in distant second
The thing that has changed is you do not get kids playing the game with anywhere near the same passion or dedication as decades ago. They would all rather be playing computer games.

The SFA get all the blame, but there is little you can do about that. England has a bigger pool of talent, but Scotland is a tiny nation.

Add in the influx of foreign players into the professional leagues all over Britain, and it is a recipe for substandard performances.

Even while England are doing all right at the moment, the players are not as good as they used to be, in my opinion.

Nah, the Old Firm usually dominated. Scotland just does not produce any decent players any more. Andy Robertson and Tierney are both very good, but they play in the same position.

Look back to Andy Roxburgh.
He had a lot to answer for.
Only liked to pick players who played in Scotland.
And if your surname was Mc or Mac you were in or so it seemed.
