Andrea Pirlo was often the best striker of a ball in every team he played for but nobody ever suggested he should’ve played up front. I think the reason people do it with Keane is simply because he’s been so bad in his actual position.

It’s a perfect storm of both really. Branthwaite is a handy finisher but no one has ever suggested moving him up front.

It's only because our strikers have been so poor since Dom's good spell. Keane has scored a few nice goals when he's gone up for set pieces and it makes people think it might work.

Going back to the main post, I recall many people held on to the argument the Diniyar Bilyaletdinov should be played ACM and that Moyes was a dinosaur for not playing him.
