Richarlison

To play Devils advocate.

Logic dictates we move on from Richarlison, he’s hit his age resale peak, he’s prob at his development peak, he’s likely going to pick up injures increasingly based€ on miles on the clock and his style of play.

But what if we say feck the logic - we have billionaire owners, a shiny new stadium that’s going to make us money, squad costs going to go down sharply. What if our new owners want to make a P.R. signing and invest to do so, get the fans onside, shift merch, attract sponsors with a Brazilian no 9. Similar to getting the blood racing when they brought in Rom into Roma.

What if it defies logic, but our owners do it anyway, take on the cost and all the risk and a “we’re here and we get you signing”.

Then we end up right back here in 7 years time, but with no new stadium to look forward to.

While I was a big Richardson fan when he was here and was very annoyed that we let him go I wouldn’t want to pay the sort of money Spurs will look for him and the wage he would command. A loan deal with no requirement to buy him and a wage of less than £100,000 per week and I would be tempted.
TFG have now given Everton an opportunity to look up, David Moyes has given the club hope that we can compete however that opportunity and hope count for nothing unless you build on them. This club have suffered from bad decisions for years, we now need hard headed business types not sentimental pushovers.
Signing Richie looks like a sentimental choice to me, yes he was great for us, yes he cared for the club and the supporters but given his age and the football he was played is he the type of player we need now to help us up the league and competitive. I think we could do better with the money we are expected to have.
Something else which has to be weighed in the mix is Saudi Arabia, Richie looks like the ideal player for their league, if an oil rich Saudi club come in for him and throw a small fortune at him will he refer Everton. Indeed even if he was to turn down Saudi Arabia how would that effect him over the course of a season playing in the cold and wet of an English winter when he knows he could have been in the warm and earning a fortune.
While I would love to see him back in blue and doing the things he done before but I am not sure how much of my wish to see him back is ruled by heart over head.

Definite no from me, he’s gone backwards at spurs. We’ve got Ndiaye and mc Neill on the left already, and I’d rather an out an out striker if DCL goes, Delap would be ideal, if not I’d take Jamie vardy for a season!

I think Moyes was needed this season to get us out of the mess Dyche left us in. I think he’ll be given next season to stabilise the ship but I don’t expect him to remain after that, his work will have been done.

Richarlison is an injury prone player approaching 30 who is on huge wages and would cost a huge transfer fee. It would not be good business, whether people want to admit it or not because they have affection for him from a previous spell. Taking emotion out of it, which is what our owners and DOF should be doing, it’s just not sensible. “On loan” for peanuts is also a dream scenario which Levy would never allow to happen.
You don’t think Moyes is a long term appointment?

@Eggs @MikeH72
Tbh the last long term appointment we had was Moyes.
But I’m shocked people are considering him leaving already after the upturn. Yeah things can go wrong but why be thinking that now?

Next season he will have been here 18 months, why would you be shocked if he left after that? He was 38 when he first joined us so that’s quite a big difference to now. He was brought in to firefight and fix the mess left by his predecessor.

Dont know mate - the fundamental's of the business are going to change - broad base revenue is going to increase - not just once but annually - we have the capacity to take on cost - its whether Richarlison is worth a share of the cost, for playing, P.R. of TFG PR with fans.

Not saying its the right or wrong decsion but looking at it from both sides or pros and cons and what i may thinking if i was TFG.

…I’m not expecting him ‘to leave already’, I just get the impression the plan is for him to stabilise the team, set the foundations of a better squad and see out his contract.

First objective was to stay up; job done. Huge task now bringing in numbers that improve performances.

A few things he’s said indicate to me he’ll have had enough in a couple of years, no idea if he then wants a more executive role.

We should provably discuss this on the Moyes thread.
I form one would be happy to view the next four years with him.

The "upturn"? It's not an upturn. It was a rescue act, a Red Adair move. He has accomplished it with aplomb. But he was never Plan A for these new owners and the reality is they don't need him now like they did in January. I think a change this summer cannot be ruled out at all.

Does have an ok-ish goal/assist record at Mordor especially for Spurs. Hopefully a goal or two to spoil the party on Sunday?

And he would absolutely love it. Come on Richie lad!
