2019/20 Richarlison

It doesn’t work like that. And besides, how many shots did they have on target? Three shots on target, the same amount as Everton!

There would have been nothing undeserving if we had won yesterday’s game due to scoring more goals than they did.

Clubs have won leagues through prioritising defence over attack. It’s called tactics.

It’s nonsense to suggest that having loads of possession without troubling the opposition makes you deserving of winning a game. That’s the type of cack Martinez used to come out with!
I have to agree with you, we were more comfortable last night than we have been for a long time against Liverpool. I think Carlo got his tactics spot on, and, although Liverpool had more of the ball, it was mainly in non threatening positions, the real chances last night fell to us. So no, I don’t think it would have been an undeserved victory.

Richy cost us tonight. If he squares it to iwobi with 5 minutes left instead of trying to shoot from an impossible angle we get an undeserved win. Iwobi would have had an open goal and more than likely would have scored. His greed cost us that win. I don't care who the player is, the coaching staff should be replaying that chance in the dressing room straight after the game to richy and telling him in no uncertain terms never to do it again.

of course it will never be mentioned and he will continue to shoot from ridiculous positions and costing us more points.

Hahaha.
People watch a game with panorama view and think they see everything on the pitch.
They are probably right but their perspective or point of view is very much different from players.

And not many players can see what happenning all over the pitch when got he ball at their feet.
lol

Would you rather:

Richarlison Gomes Delph Bernard

Lukaku DCL

or

Walcott Gomes Delph Bernard

Richarlison DCL

I personally think the former team a. Scores more and b. Creates more.

If the discussion is about whether Richarlison is potentially a top class centre forward or right winger.

Compare him to Kanchelskis...hes nowhere near that level as a winger.

As a centre forward there are many rated as top class who dont score bundles of goals...Firminho we saw last night for example.

For me, hes a centre forward.

An incredible take. In the literal sense of the word.

Yes, Undeserved. had we won it would have been undeserved considering our lack of adventure going forward. We looked like we set out for a draw. We were in our own half for 70-80% of that game. it's a lot easier to set up defensively and basically ruin a game into a no- score draw. It's a lot harder to actually set up a team to win games, consistently. We are still miles behind the top teams as a creative team going forward. We're a defensive team and a fairly boring one at that.
Need to stop playing fifa you lad

I personally reckon his best position is as a wide forward (in a 4-3-3), with the main focus being on attacking the goal rather than covering the defence whilst out of possession, with the natural width being provided by attacking wing backs (similar to Salah and Robertson/Alexander-Arnold's relationship at RS).
Despite his decent physicality, he's not got the natural hold up play of DCL/Yakubu/Dunc, and laying off in tight spaces isn't one of his strengths - but rather playing off the shoulder of the opposing full back (Lukaku vs Arsenal in 13/14) as we start playing more quickly in transition from back-to-front (once we have better personnel in the middle of the park) could see him post 20 goals a season imo.

This angle may explain why he never passed to Iwobi as the Liverpool player on the right came back and could have blocked the pass.

He should have tried to find Iwobi but for me he had a good game. He’s such a threat, two feet, good in the air and can go past people. Add to that a great attitude and we have a player. He can sometimes be selfish, as can all top players, but he’s definitely our go to guy.

I hope some people can see now that Richarlison isnt a proper CF and in this rigid Italian 442 system we would thrive with DCL'S workrate alongside a Lukaku type slotter.

Get Richarlison out wide as Iwobi/Gordon/Walcott/Bernard just do not cut the mustard - lad can cut in & puts in tackles and defends when he needs to.

Waste of a top class wide player imo.
It's a case of all the wide players are crap so do we move him?

He suffers on the wing and isn't as effective imo. I'd support moving him back if we had either a decent #10 or another striker we could pair with DCL.

It's a question of where are we ok with being weak. Carlo set up to defend deep and try to counter with Richarlison's pace.

Most of the chances we had were from him moving out wide.

It's a question of giving time to one of either Gordon or Kean and it's looking like Ancelotti prefers Gordon.

I think he might have got the pass in between them for Iwobi to run onto but I still don’t mind him shooting. I think he’s going to be a 20 goal a season man on a regular basis. We just needs a team that gives him more touches in the box. I get the play him wide argument but ultimately he’s our best and most valuable player so whatever we can do to get him involved in the right areas.
