Why?

I've only ever used the rep function once (when we trialed its return briefly a few years ago), and it was to tell Dave I enjoy a specific aspect of his posts.

I think it's a nice way to leave a little comment and let people know how you think about them or their posts (positively or negatively) without bouncing to PM, which I don't really like to use, or clogging up threads etc.

Additionally, and I'm sure it's a pain to moderate, but you can't deny people crying about internet points is great viewing also. This will probably be less of an occurance with this system though as the score isn't readily visible like the old green and red banners.

That's really my point. Anonymity is largely already built in so it's all just another wind up which I do recognize some GOTers truly enjoy.
I don't get the enjoyment factor - to each their own
