Your a bettin man. Do you think they will stay up?
It's not impossible no. . But it is highly unlikely.
People keep making cases for teams with terrible results all season to suddenly go and win 4 or 5 games in 7. Why .
Newcastle were as good as gone at Christmas. Only one team in the bottom 3 at Xmas has ever survived as far as I know. Newcastle will make that two now. Anything can happen don't be so sure we're gaurenteed safety over the teams below us especially when there's only 4 points in it. Had we beat Burnley and United I'd be saying yes that's us safe but we're not out of the woods yet. Vault me if we string two wins together back to back and beat Leicester

Leeds, Brentford and Newcastle have all done this recently.
Newcastle: Completely different team to pre-Christmas.

Brentford: A fit Erikson and a fit again Toney has probably helped

Leeds: Players probably relieved they don't have to listen to that Mumbling overhyped Goblin anymore. Can't say I blame them.

I think the big difference for Brentford is Erickson, it's funny really, I just couldn't see that transfer working, I didn't think Brentford had enough good players to benefit from Erickson's skills, how wrong was I? They have looked a much better team since signing him.
Excellent signing. Well run club is Brentford- very aware of their own strengths and weaknesses and how to get the best out of themselves. Interesting second season for them next year and if they stay up and strengthen, they could be a top flight team for a long while.

I’m trying not to look at the other teams fixtures and just concentrate on our own, but it’s bloody difficult.

We get our act together and look after our own fixtures and the other teams can’t hurt us - I just wish I could trust this squad to do that but I have so little faith, and the Goodison effect is pulling us over the line in games.

Even getting a point at Burnley would have been huge - they now have to get something from at least one or two of our remaining aways to show me that they have turned a corner.

We shouldn’t be relying on the others loosing, we have to take control of the situation and pull ourselves clear.

….but far from impossible.
In 92/93 Luton were 8 points from safety with 3 games to play they won all 3 and Palace went down on goal difference.
It's a big mistake to talk too early about being safe, anything can happen between now and the end of the season .I know it was taken out of context but the quote from Gordon saying we are too good to go down worries me because if any of this squad are thinking that way they really need to wake up and smell the coffee.

….exactly, it’s almost like a mini league in a mini season. 8 games or so to play, 4 teams involved, we have 4 points start & and only the team finishing top stays up.

Vault me if Watford pass us out .

Brendan, im not 100% on this but i think its only one team that was bottom at Christmas stayed up.. im sure there's plenty above that.

I tend to think Watford have six games now as they need to win both to level with us so effectively we have two free hits on them.

Same with Burnley albeit one. So they in reality only have 7 fixtures to our 8.
