Relegation Thread 25-26

The fixtures up to 20th December look tricky. I just don’t want us to go into a spiral. I agree that we’ve got more than enough to be mid table but I’d rather just get something at Old Trafford rather than put pressure on us having to beat Newcastle at home.
The teams in the middle part of the league are all vulnerable from match to match so even though I agree on paper the fixtures look tricky there's no reason why we can't get results on any given day against these teams

Think it will be a similar period to last season. Get draws to keep things ticking along.

Big period is that spell of games over Xmas, Burnley, Forest, Brentford, Wolves. 7-8 points and will be well clear of bottom 3.

Yep if we can get some "bonus" draws against Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Spurs, Man United, the rs that would be good. However, our league is with Wolves, Leeds, Burnley, West Ham, Fulham and Brentford. That's why throwing away the game at Leeds still irks me. If we can avoid losing any more games to those teams and get 20 points from our fixtures against them we should be ok. Moyes used to be a specialist at beating the teams at the bottom, let's hope he hasn't lost that knack.

Well it was very very poor under Dyche this time last season. Not beating Brentford at home when they had ten men for over half that game then getting walloped 4-0 at tonight's venue.

However he still did get draws off Arsenal, Chelsea and Man. City in his final month in charge. Lack of goals were as much of an issue then as they are now.

Newcastle at home is a very winnable game and also got Brentford and Wolves at BMD over the holiday period so think it is same formula as ever, get a home win every other game and see what can be picked up away.

You don't need amazing away form to finish top 10.

We’ve been battling relegation for 5 years, long before Moyes turned up. Personally I’m looking over our shoulder until I think our team is good enough to threaten the top half.

The summer window was a disaster and the recruitment team should be sacked.
James Smith didn't start his post of Head of Recruitment until September 2025. The new recruitment team can't be really assessed until after the next Summer transfer window.

All the issues were never going to be solved in one transfer window.

I'd have liked more obviously especially on the right hand side of defence which bizarrely seems to be a no go area for any transfers in recent times but as a starting point Grealish and KDH isn't bad at all. Barry and Dibling also on paper exactly the type of long term signings this club need to be making but both are clearly going to need that time based on what we've seen so far.

Its been mentioned on this forum that a certain Mr D.Moyes esq could have potentially been in charge before the new team were able to start in their respective positions.
This is a rather unfortunate development.
I hope he will not be judged on the quality of such signings, it not being part of his expertise or job description.
