so wanting us out of all the cups. and saying you think we will go on a 7 game losing streak (Losing the next 4 prem games). who do you actually think we will get our next points verse. or is that Palace you are saying our next points will come against
It should be Villa.

If Burnley are almost snatching points at Villa Park we should be targeting 3 at GP.

So your now not writing the next 4 games off (as you did yesterday), because Burnley were close to getting a point at Villa. We should be aiming for 3 anyway as we will be doing

In hindsight yes, as we would’ve lost 3-2, but that wasn’t even the endgame as there were still opportunities and matches after that for us to save ourselves. For me, the Castagne shot in the 94th minute for Leicester at Newcastle is the moment time stood still. There was absolutely nothing we could’ve done if that went in. Would’ve been completely reliant on West Ham on the final day of the season. Horrifying moment. Thank baby Jesus for Nicholas Pope.

There were only four matches left after that Leicester game.

If Leicester had won it would've been Leicester 32 points, Everton 28 points so imo that would've been too much to overhaul considering how the results went after that game.

In that scenario even getting a draw off Man. City wouldn't have been enough so would've needed a real miracle.

But thankfully got a 2-2 down there and then Leicester imploded at Fulham which was a huge plus as Fulham had nothing to play for.

Exactly. Rest the first-team players for the cup - play DCL as he needs a goal - and target Villa. They are a decent side, but far from unbeatable if the manager does not sabotage himself with his selection and inaction.

That Pickford penalty save was epic.

Have an atrocious record v Villa since they came back up in 2019.

The record v them is played 9 lost 7, scored 3, conceded 17.

That said I do think winning down there in the league cup will help in terms of mentality and they have looked dodgier at the back in recent times so one of those games where get a goal up and a draw/win is pretty possible.

Goes without saying Doucoure available for this is a complete must otherwise the options look weak against one of the best functioning midfield units in the league.

Well, we have to start picking up points again or we will be overtaken by Luton. Burnley - with 10 men - were a few minutes from a point at Villa Park yesterday. Sheffield United actually got one there. If these are two of our relegation rivals, what have we to fear at home? We need to stand up again now as a team. Villa is the ideal game - especially as they will be under pressure to keep pace at the top. Goodison is often at its best on days like this.

Last 20 games.

W8. GD -4

Why hone in on such a small sample size?
Because we have lost our last 4 matches, the confidence is low, the players looked tired, and the performance yesterday was abysmal.

On the plus side though, hopefully Dyche has realized that 5 at the back and Keane are not the answers.

The break has come at a good time. We can get players rested and injuries healed.

We are good enough to get out of trouble, but we need to match opponents in the basics of effort, work rate and commitment. When we don't do that , then we lose heavily like yesterday. The manner of defeat yesterday needs to be seen as a wake up call and used productively to guard against any form of complacency.

One game at a time is still the right thing to do. We didn't suddenly become a really good team when we won 4 but we aren't a terrible team either after losing 4. We just need to get a result asap and get back on track - the best chance to do that will be with more of our first choice 11 on the pitch and free from injury issues.

It was never likely to be easy this season with the -10 points, and it will probably go to the end of the season again if we don't get any points back. If we can get 3 or 4 back that changes a lot, and I think that would be enough to get us out of trouble. But we unfortunately have to assume the worst with the appeal.

The problem is that managers don't seem to learn at Everton. And get the sack due to be stubborn.
