Brentford in a bit of trouble after that result tonight, they’ll need Toney to hit the ground running when he comes back as they have a difficult run coming up.

I fully understand where @davek is coming from, we've not shown any bottle for a few years now, trusting these players to get us over the line is hard if you choose to suffer, but I do trust them this year as Dyche is in charge. We will be scrapping for the majority of the season, but we won't go down.

I cant believe the level of tranquility there's been in the last few weeks. It's nuts to me.

There's a fair few of those people who have been 'lolling' away at any mention of relegation having a rethink now though.

Most expect City to have circa 70% possession. That wasn't an issue. Continually overhitting/underhitting passes, poor weight of passes and rushing passes under little duress at times was poor.

I agree. The thing is though, we do this in nearly every game, win, draw, or lose. I've said it for a while - technically we are a shocking outfit. Constantly fail to pass it about with any purpose if even the slightest bit of pressure is applied.

Us doing relatively well is down to the plan from the manager which largely mitigates the requirement to pass it about at pace.

For me personally, it's because it's December and there's a long way to go. We've been in this position for 3 seasons straight now and I've never been more confident in a manager keeping us up. I might come across as complacent, but I can't be doing with the stress of actually thinking it's going to be tough to stay up. Yes, there is a real chance we have a baron run through these holiday fixtures especially with the injuries we have, but I have to take it one game at a time.

I assume anyone who does, genuinely, think we are in "massive trouble" is putting their money where their mouth is and getting on the 9/1 available for us to go down.

No, I didn't think so.

Dave we have accumulated 11 more points than 18th position mate. We have absolutely every right to fancy our chances of finishing above them three dossers in the relegation zone, never mind the dross currently sitting above us.

My concern is that these players have dragged themselves out of the relegation zone once already and if we fall into it again soon - as I think we will - then do they have the character to bounce back again.

These players have only known relegation struggles. That has to bear down heavily on them at some point and they buckle...espcially when they must (rightly) think they should be top 10 and out of this mess now.

I'm beginning to think the arse will completely drop out of us soon, especially if/when we receive no points back from the appeal.

I doubt it. They'll probably be thinking we were on the end of a shockingly undeserved 2-1 defeat away to a top 4 team who we dominated for most of the game, and then got beat by the best team in club football while giving a decent account. If those games suddenly change your view then there's no hope for you.

The only reason anyone would genuinely go from "tranquil" to doomsday panicking is due to Luton winning a couple of very winnable games, which they're entitled to do.
