I’m not a doom and gloom merchant on here like many. I think with current players it will be difficult to stay up, so Dyche has to get creative…whether that’s a change in personnel e,g. bringing Gray back into the fold or a change of formation 4-4-2….either way he is going to need DCL for a portion of the games and use him sparingly for select games. I know we say we can’t rely on him, and that is correct, but if we use him intelligently we can rely on him for some six pointers provided his management and the timing is right

Here's the thing.
if (and its still a big IF) we go down,
we have a manager in place to can get out of that league.
We have what ever money we saved in January plus prob about $100m with the inevitable sale of Pickford, Onana, Mina, Gomes and one or two more.
I'd say a lot would stay. Even Dominic Calvert-Lewin might see a season in the championship as the perfect opportunity to get his career back on line.
Dyche seems to love his settled first XI so I could see the likes of Gana, Doucoure, Iwobi, Coleman, Tarkowski, Coady, Myko, McNeil all staying.
Then there's Warrington, Canon, Brantwaith and a few others on loan.
So, with player sales, parachute payments and no huge need to strengthen unless Dominic Calvert-Lewin is well and truly crocked, we wouldn't be in the worst position in the world.
And it might finally spell the end of Kenwright.

We did well yesterday until we didn't. And that's down to the board. If we go down it's their fault.
If we head down I don't want to see us coming back up with the same players, system, approach to our game.
That would be the perfect time for Thellwell to start earning his pennies and implementing a club Reset, and putting his system into fruition.
A few of those players would be good for there experience, but Thats when I'd want to see more players like garner being brought in.

We would want hungry players wanting to prove there ability not ageing players happy with there lovely paycheck.

heard an interesting interview, I think it was Kevin Long talking about Sean Dyche as a manager.
He described the team talk straight after the game they got relegated.
He said there was no postmortem or picking apart what went wrong.
Instead Dyche gathered them all and asked them who was with him next season.
He told them he'd take them straight back up and asked for their loyalty. He did.

If we go down, I doubt there'll be any big shake up.
I'd say there's more likely to be bigger changes if we stay up!

Unless there are clauses in the contracts to lower the wages upon relegation (there won't be) then we will need to shift a lot of the squad.

Went cold turkey after the result. After the weekend I think Saturday was very much a case of coming back down to earth.

If we can't see where goals are coming from, we can't see wins.

Still twists and turns to come but it seems like its three from the bottom four to go down.

That actually gives me more hope than it should.

But we have tough fixtures to come.

If we are going to stay up, then we have to go on the basis of finishing above both Soton and B'mouth. That is far from given.

It may come down to us vs. Leeds. In that scenario Dyche may be able to eek out more points than Gracia.

It's where we are after 38 games. If we are 17th it doesn't matter how we got there.

That was a grim result, it's Monday morning and I'm sure we're all in need of a pick-me-up, so I thought I would pile on some more doom and gloom.

If we had a decent striker or two who could stay fit, like any professional club of our standing should by default, I wouldn't be worried by relegation at all. We'd move clear quite easily. But the fact is, we don't have that and goals in this team are extremely difficult to come by. If our opponents score against us, it is unlikely we'd get a point, never mind score more than 1 goal to even think about getting 3 points.

As much as I have faith in our manager, he can only work with what he's given and our goalscoring problems are going to severely hamstring him - we're seeing that already.

No, I'm afraid we're almost certainly going down and it'll be because of the lack of goal scoring threat. I can't even bring myself to think about the new stadium because in the Championship/lower leagues without Premier League money, it'll be a financial millstone around our necks.

Have a lovely week!

I'm struggling to see where our next points are coming from.
I'm not, tbh.

Arsenal game - forget it. Forest and Brentford: we can get 4-6 points there. It's whoever gets the first goal in almost every game we have left this season as far as I'm concerned. If we take the lead 7/8 times in the remaining games then we can realistically get a haul of between, say, 16-20 points.

We've taken the lead twice under Dyche and made them pay for all 6 points.

I dont see that Dyche has done much wrong so far. He's looked to get the first goal and committed numbers into the box to get it. My only questioning of him is that we might need to go two up top in games to get that lead but he seems to be sticking with one up.

Only 6 of our remaining 14 games are at home.

We're doomed unless we sort the away form out.
4 home wins and an away win + 1/2 draws should be enough....or 3 home wins and 2 away wins and a couple of draws...or 4 wins in total and 5 draws.

The thing to remember is that all other teams right up to the 14th position have their trials and tribulations of various types to sort out, and that not one of them can breathe any easier than Everton.

I think we've reached a good level of performance and we've been rewarded with it by taking 2 wins from 4 games. If we keep that up we're defo safe. We might not have the big goal scorer, but we're playing in a way that we've worked around that and are creating a lot of chances and we just need to get our noses in front in matches to take all 3 points.

Yes but the difference is before we were being led by someone with the tactical nous of your average Sunday League manager...perhaps that's being a bit generous.

Give Dyche a chance, he's had one away game so far.
