Been saying this a while now. If we had a pot to piss in we wouldn't have sold Richarldison at a cut price. Ultimately we had to to balance the books. If we were financially sound we'd have kept him on until after the WC or we'd be in a better position to hold out for a better deal last summer.I think some people see 22 games to go and that we're just out of the relegation spots and believe something better will happen for us.
I dont.
I thought that way weeks before this window was to be opened, but it seems clear to me now that we wont see enough transfer activity to hand us a life-line.
The decision seems to have been made at the top that we'll see if we can turn the corner and get some goals from what we have, plus maybe a loan deal for a striker...which is why Rondon has probably been shown the door.
It's a wing and a prayer and it's not, IMO, going to be nearly good enough to see us through.
In terms of attacking options we've squandered the little money we had on what would be considered squad players to a team 15th and above. We've improved marginally in defence but that doesn't outweigh the goals we've lost.
I was hopeful we turned a corner with the Palace win and DCL being fit. But we've stepped backwards since then.
I think a miracle loan deal akin to when we got Lukaku is our only way out of this mess.
