I think some people see 22 games to go and that we're just out of the relegation spots and believe something better will happen for us.

I dont.

I thought that way weeks before this window was to be opened, but it seems clear to me now that we wont see enough transfer activity to hand us a life-line.

The decision seems to have been made at the top that we'll see if we can turn the corner and get some goals from what we have, plus maybe a loan deal for a striker...which is why Rondon has probably been shown the door.

It's a wing and a prayer and it's not, IMO, going to be nearly good enough to see us through.
Been saying this a while now. If we had a pot to piss in we wouldn't have sold Richarldison at a cut price. Ultimately we had to to balance the books. If we were financially sound we'd have kept him on until after the WC or we'd be in a better position to hold out for a better deal last summer.

In terms of attacking options we've squandered the little money we had on what would be considered squad players to a team 15th and above. We've improved marginally in defence but that doesn't outweigh the goals we've lost.

I was hopeful we turned a corner with the Palace win and DCL being fit. But we've stepped backwards since then.

I think a miracle loan deal akin to when we got Lukaku is our only way out of this mess.

Agreed it would be interesting to see how many people said they were glad when he finally left with the Knife to a gun fight attitude, he probably lost 90% of the games he really needed to win like one off cup games etc, why do people think he's going to start winning the possible 10-12 must win games or more to the end of the season, he's never done it since he's left.
I just see the disruption of changing for a manager of his calibre as not worth the effort.

If we got two forwards in and they shifted Lampard out as well I wouldn't be concerned.

If they get only a loan striker in of questionable quality what sort of manager could transform it for us in any case?

A Kevin Campell type deal is the parallel. Same type of financial shackles and we came up with him.

Something has to happen , as per your question regarding us getting hit with actually spending money , i cant recall any official statement that we will be hit, if and it's a big if we get a few forwards in and some one capable of creating something FL needs to change tactics by getting the ball forward a lot faster, the CP game we went at them from the first minute but since then its reverted to slow keep ball.

The way I see it;

He didnt want to sell Gordon for £40-60m when most fans could see this;

He approved McNeil, Onana, Maupay, Garner, Gana transfers. Any team with Demarai Gray on one wing, Dwight McNeil on the other and a half fit Calvert-Lewin, or Maupay upfront is fighting relegation. Lampard did bring in McNeil and did reject big offers for Gordon so he's not blameless. "Who could have expected Calvert-Lewin to get injured" he says, against his injury record and when Calvert-Lewin wasn't fit to play some pre-season.

He's also doing worse than expected, that Bournemouth team shouldn't be spanking us 7-1 across two games, nor should we be losing at home to Wolves.

he got his striker sold on him for 60 mill the board KNEW this and didn’t give a rats ass

the BOARD are to blame

and if we go down watch the rats dessert the sinking ship

If we transgressed the rules by buying 2 strikers and got a 10 point deduction next season I'd prefer that than what is likely to happen this transfer window.

It's that dire.

We'd be better off with two strikers in place next season and looking for 48-50 points to survive rather than have maybe a loan deal on a striker and trying to get another 26 points this season.

That was before all I just said - Richarlison was always leaving to ensure compliance. He wanted off anyway - our position just dictated he was going no matter what. Lampard knew he was off last season.

He left 1st July. We spent a few bob after that and clearly, we weren't replacing Richarlison but it as a pitiful attempt to mitigate his loss.

Rejected a big bid for Gordon, agreed to McNeil (£20m?), Onana (£33m?), Maupay £15m?), Garner (£15m?), Gana (no idea but reckon 5m+) transfers.

The attack we had dictated relegation scrap.

The team that started last season, was better than this season.

Our situation is not on Lampard, but he's not Teflon either.

The recruitment was dire. There's no getting away from that, nor Lampard's hand in it. However, the Kudus situation was unfortunate, and he was obvioulsy chasing a starting forward in the final 2 weeks of the window and it never happened.

Overall though I think the Thelwell / Lampard partnership maybe identified a 66 goal leaking defence as the priority to sort out. Solve that and our problems would be manageable with a half decent tally of goals. That was THE miscalculation and it's one we might not be able to rectify from January.

Once the City and Brighton games are over it's likely that we'll have 18 games to get 26 points in order to stand a chance of surviving.

Let that sink in.

That's the enormity of the task.

2 years ago we were second in December.
Since being 2nd in December didn't result in winning the league, we have no reason to assume that being 17th in December is a sign that we'll be relegated.

Yet no one assumed we'd win the league back then, while loads assume we'll be relegated this season. Evertonian math only concerns itself with negative numbers.

They tried for Kudus and I think had some hope for Broja...

Usually id say rather sign nobody than duds and kick the can down the road but our attack has no one with the goals or assists to their game to keep us away from relegation.

We didn't even have a recognised striker a fair few games j to the season - it's those margins that could make all the difference.

Many other people we could’ve brought in instead of McNeil and Maupay. It’s just insane
