Referees v Everton

Take your red tinted glasses off

I am still not sure on this one. Gordon does this type of thing a lot and it works a lot but not always. He gets his body in front of a defender and slams on the brakes. It was a big decision because of where we are, the opposition and how rare we had those type of chances but I do not think it was a certain penalty. It was a 50/50 call for the referee and you always hope it goes your way. Today it did not. Listening to Ped on Toffee TV, the dive in the first half probably did not do him any favours, I think.

if he had red shirt on and it was the other end of the pitch it is given every time

"PGMOL tell us that that they would’ve had ‘no complaints’ had [Stuart] Attwell given Everton a penalty Anfield Rd end," he said. "So my question is ‘why didn’t they ask the ref to go and look at it - & make his own mind up’? It was a pen. That the match day centre make the decisions is madness."

Richard Keys spot on.

Thats a blatant cheat by the referees.

You're driving your car, slam the brakes on and someone does you up the rear who's fault is it? Same with the defender running behind Gordon,

Maybe you are right. I think the decisions feel bigger and more unjust right now because of how important they are. A 50/50 call becomes a certain penalty. A tough challenge becomes a certain red. The big teams get these calls because they have the ball in and around the box more. The law of averages. It is cruel but at the other end of the table, you might only be in the opposition box once or twice and if a 50/50 call does not go your way, it is far more important. As i was saying earlier. I expected the defeat today and am happy with that performance. Hopefully Godfrey recovers quickly and we take this into Chelsea next weekend.

Well said. Put your tin hat on.

It's a pen. Var didn't check it either or at least commentators didn't say so
