Recruiting strategy is key...

You would have thought and hoped that this process was in place for the recruitment of Silva. It probably wasn’t which says a lot about those in charge. This should be the same method for recruiting players(as mentioned by a previous poster). It doesn’t appear to have happened prior to Brands, I think his hands were tied last summer by time restraints. Hopefully this Summer will see improved player recruitment.
As for Silva ,I am not convinced he is the right person for the job but would happily be proved wrong.
The only thing silva is proving is his defensive inequalities..

I don’t think recruitment can be the key at the moment. Not player wise anyway.

The absolute key has to be the biggest clear out we’ve ever seen. Which will be one of the hardest things to achieve.

Only then will we be able to consider recruitment again.

Good point this. Whilst I think there will be some £ made available for incomings, it will be curtailed until we ship out a good few. As you say it will be a tough ask but let’s hope brands can do it

Where to start.. Lol
This is why, if at all possible, we need someone like mourinho to come in and tip the club upside down and get EVERYONE involved performing like a top club would.

Just can't see that happening... Too many people have got it too easy and don't want that to happen

If you don't have a striker who can hold onto the ball, you can't get up the field, if you don't have anyone to take the chances you stop making chances because players lose the confidence that chances will be taken. Preferably we would buy a top striker and a back up in the mould of a King from Bournemouth.

I agree with this. I know this sounds cynical but we'll do well to just remain mid table whilst we off load all the deadwood in the squad.

The amount of deadwood we've got to move on is unbelievable, the only way we get rid of some of them in the Summer is to move them on for buttons, even then it's not a given because of the big wages some of them are on. Can't see much incoming business being done in the Summer.

Moshiri's stratergy for the silva appointment was down to silva winning 4 games at Watford and looking good doing it.

that seemed to outweigh the fact that he has one of the worst premier league defensive records , esp at set plays.

so it was very very Everton, to go and hire a premier league manager , relegated, sacked and also the holder of the worst defensive set play record.

id like to think the next manager will at least have a winning record, or at the very least a better goals for than against... its pretty basic stuff to say the least
I don't know why he appointed Silva, it just beggars belief.

The fees we’d get for them isn’t the issue though. I reckon we’d happily take massive losses on them.

The problem is hoping people will pay the wage or near the wage we pay them. And i can’t see many buying teams doing that.

Yes it’s key.

But it’s not instantaneous and I’m afraid that simply won’t do.

We want to win the league THIS YEAR and that......

:hayee:
