Bolasie is one of the most pointless and one dimensioned players I've seen play for Everton in 10 years. He literally has no clue how to play football outside of kicking it and running faster than the opponent. As you say mate, many who love football, have played it. I have also played and managed against loads of players like him and, within 10 minutes you know exactly how to play him. Basically, close down the space, don't let him turn you and have somebody floating 10 yards back to pick the ball up 'if' he spins you. He suited Palace and their counter attacking style as he got to run at players. Koeman wants a pressing game, which in the case of Bolasie, even playing that ourselves completely negates any positive effect he could have on the team. The nature of a pressing game means that the game becomes compact, when you win the ball you have players all around you, you need a player with quick feet and some kind of idea, that's why Coutinho is so successful over the park, he can get out of tight situations, creating space for others. What Everton need for Koeman to realise his style isn't Bolasie, its a Pienaar from 6 years ago.

Bolasie gets the ball, rolls his foot over it, kicks, runs fast, loses it....... repeat ad infinitum.

I don't think Bolasie is terrible btw, the jury is still very much out. He's shown flashes of brilliance and magnificent incompetence in equal measure. Love it.

The thing is Prev when we were setup to counter attacking earlier in the season - and for me, this is what a 3 at the back is for, so your fullbacks can charge forwards in more advanced areas - Bolasie was a decent addition; soak pressure then let him boot it 40 yards round an opponent and let him chase it. When we play the current setup, giving him all of about 15 yard square to work in, he's absolutely abysmal. He looks (as he is) like a player that played in the lowest echelons of football and learned from bottom tier coaches. He works pretty hard- or at least gives the impression of it in short bursts - but he is absolutely the wrong type of football for a team in a ropey vein of form with no discernable structure to their play. He should be the wildcard in a well-organised side, and not the chaotic personification of everything that is wrong with the side currently

Very well put. Tbh, I was hoping we'd see some of this famed Koeman "organisation" by now, but he still doesn't seem to know what his best team is. We're on a downward trajectory and it looks like a lot of our players couldn't give a flying eff. You could never have said that about Fellaini or, indeed, anyone in that Moyes team.

Felli behind rom would be perfect for our system at the moment, guaranteed to hold the ball up and would occupy defenders giving rom the space he needs to slot

I used to like watching Fellaini, always edge of your seat.
You never knew when played as a defender if he would put in a quality tackle or just put an elbow through the strikers head to slow them down... regardless he was pretty effective at breaking up play.
And at the other end, you never knew if he was going to out jump the defender to score a majestic goal... or just put an elbow through the defenders head to get an advantage...
In the tunnel, you never knew if he was going to walk out with a grin on his face... or just put an elbow through someone's head for the hell of it..

I'll be honest he did elbow a lot, but he was one of the best I've ever seen at bringing the ball under control, especially with his chest.

I do like Bolasie too, but if didn't play and one of Mirallas, Deulofue or Lennon played instead I would not be too upset.

So we spunked £15m on Fellaini, the clumsy oaf who Moyes himself had to sign from us himself to get us out of a predicament, or Bolasie, a £20M+ plus winger who actually has skill, pace, trickery and intelligence instead of just jumping with flailing arms.

Who would you rather have in this team? Bolasie, who is far better than most footballers on the planet, or Fellaini, who has made a living out of David Moyes and has absolutely no football ability?

I don't get the hate for Bolasie. I'd imagine most people who love football played it at some point, which means you should see how good Bolasie is, and be in awe of him. But you didn't complain when we spent our whole transfer budget on Fellaini. And it was Moyes himself who bailed us out by giving us funds for Lukaku by actually signing Fellaini for Man Utd?!
I wouldn't go that far like
